When Ordinary Is Too Small… Then There Is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! 😂
Hey, Blog Friends and Family!
Sometimes life gives us moments that ordinary words simply cannot describe.
We say good.
We say great.
We say amazing.
We say wonderful.
But every once in a while, something happens that makes you stop and think:
Nope! I need a BIGGER word than that! 😂
You know—the kind of moment when “amazing” just won’t do.
The kind of moment that makes you reach wayyyyy down into your vocabulary and pull out something ridiculously BIG.
And after the weekend I just experienced, there is only one word floating around in my head:
SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! 🤣
Yes! I said it!
And please don’t ask me to spell it again without looking! 😂
About This Weekend?!?!
Where do I even begin?
My whole weekend was simply…well…
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
And here’s what makes it even more incredible:
I didn’t orchestrate any of it.
I didn’t plan it.
I didn’t arrange it.
I didn’t call somebody and say, “Hey, can you make all of this happen for me?”
Nope.
All I could say afterward was:
Only God.
I am learning more and more that God can position you in places where His unexpected blessings, provisions, kindness, and favor can find you.
And that’s what I want.
I want God’s provision.
I want God’s blessings.
But more than receiving something from Him, I want Him to be glorified through what He does in my life.
I want to be able to point back to Him and say:
“Look what the Lord has done!”
Because sometimes God doesn’t just meet your expectations.
He exceeds them.
Sometimes He allows something to happen that you didn’t request, couldn’t predict, and certainly couldn’t have orchestrated yourself.
And suddenly, “thank You” is sincere…
“Amazing” is true…
“Wonderful” is appropriate…
But somehow, those words still feel too small.
That’s where I found myself this weekend.
Surprise Number One 💐☕️
Who would have thought I would have the opportunity to meet an incredibly successful businessman—and that he would take the time to sign my shoebox?
But it didn’t stop there.
There were flowers. 💐
A gift card.
Hot chocolate. ☕️
And I stood there thinking:
Lord, what is going on?! 😂
I couldn’t have planned that encounter.
I couldn’t have manufactured that moment.
Only God.
And just when I thought, Well, that was certainly enough excitement for one weekend…
Apparently, God wasn’t finished. 😂
Surprise Number Two 🍝
There I was, simply enjoying a meal at Olive Garden.
Nothing unusual.
Nothing planned.
Just eating my food.
And then I discovered that a wonderful family had paid for my meal.
I didn’t ask them.
I didn’t expect it.
They simply chose, out of the kindness of their hearts, to bless me.
And there it was again:
Only God.
Sometimes God’s provision doesn’t arrive with thunder, lightning, or some huge announcement.
Sometimes it looks like someone quietly saying:
“Your meal has already been taken care of.”
Whew!
But wait…
There’s more! 😂
Surprise Number Three 🎶🙌🏽
Then I was given the opportunity to serve at a live concert featuring Tasha Cobbs Leonard—helping usher and seat people for the event.
Now come on!
At this point, what other word am I supposed to use?! 😂
Amazing?
Yes.
Wonderful?
Absolutely.
Incredible?
Definitely.
But after everything that had happened throughout the weekend, those words just weren’t doing it for me anymore.
So I’m going with:
SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! 🤣🤣🤣
When Ordinary Words Become Too Small
But underneath all the laughter, excitement, surprises, flowers, meals, opportunities, and unexpected kindness, something deeper touched my heart.
God reminded me that I don’t have to orchestrate everything.
Sometimes my responsibility is simply to walk where He leads, be present where He places me, serve when He gives me an opportunity, and trust Him with what happens next.
Because God can arrange what I cannot.
He can open what I cannot open.
He can position people I didn’t know were coming.
He can send encouragement through complete strangers.
And He can take an ordinary weekend and turn it into something I couldn’t have written into my own schedule if I tried.
That’s why Scripture says:
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” — Ephesians 3:20
That’s it!
Exceeding abundantly.
Maybe that is the biblical way of describing my Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious weekend! 😂❤️
God exceeded what I expected.
And when I look back over it all, I’m not celebrating things just for the sake of things.
I’m celebrating the God behind the provision.
The God behind the unexpected kindness.
The God behind the opportunities.
The God who knew where I would be before I ever arrived.
And the God who reminded me:
Lauretta, you don’t have to make everything happen.
Sometimes you just have to let God be God.
Lauretta’s Aha Moment 💡
When ordinary words become too small to describe what God has done, don’t spend all your time trying to explain the blessing—just give Him the glory for it.
Some blessings you planned for.
Some you prayed for.
And then there are those blessings you never saw coming.
Those are the moments when “good,” “great,” “amazing,” and “wonderful” just don’t seem big enough.
And sometimes all you can do is smile, shake your head, look toward heaven and say:
“Lord…that was absolutely SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS!” 😂🙌🏽❤️
Only God.
