Hey, Y’all! ā¤ļøšŸ˜‚

What a FULL WHOLE MINUTE! 🤣🤣🤣

Wait a minute!

Did I just say a full whole minute?

Have y’all ever heard that expression before? šŸ¤”

Well, neither have I!

I JUST MADE IT UP! šŸ˜‚

And that, my Blog Friends and Family, is one of the beautiful things about blogging!

Not only do you get to create interesting stories, but you can also invent some of the funniest, most unusual sayings that turn an ordinary story into something absolutely extraordinary!

But hold on!

A FULL WHOLE MINUTE?!

What in the world does that even mean?

Well, keep reading! Maybe before this blog is over, we will figure it out together! šŸ˜‚

Because today, I have a topic that might make you laugh, scratch your head, wrinkle your nose, and hopefully walk away with a powerful Aha Moment!

Are y’all ready?

Here we go!

šŸ«›šŸ§€ The Burden of Peas and Cheese!

Now, y’all!

I was listening to something on YouTube when I heard this expression:

ā€œThe Burden of Peas and Cheese.ā€

And immediately, something inside me said:

OH, I’M BLOGGING THAT! 🤣

I didn’t know where this story was going.

I didn’t know what kind of message I could possibly create from it.

But one thing I knew for sure:

That title was too good to pass up!

Now, here comes the interesting part.

PEAS AND CHEESE?!

Who in the world thought about putting those two things together?

I mean, seriously!

Have you ever eaten peas and cheese together?

If so, how did it taste?

And which one of your family members decided to bring a big ol’ casserole dish of peas and cheese to Christmas dinner? šŸŽ„šŸ¤£

Can you imagine everybody sitting around the dinner table, passing the turkey, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and sweet potato casserole?

Then somebody hollers:

ā€œPASS ME THAT PEAS AND CHEESE!ā€ šŸ«›šŸ§€

WHAT?!?!

Who brought THAT?! šŸ˜‚

Or better yet!

Imagine going on a beautiful dinner date with someone you’re getting to know.

The conversation is wonderful.

The atmosphere is romantic.

Everything is going just fine!

Until your date looks across the table and says:

ā€œBaby, let’s order us a peas and cheese sandwich!ā€ 🄪

EXCUSE ME?!?!

A WHAT?! 😳🤣

Y’all!

I would have to sit there for a FULL WHOLE MINUTE trying to process what I just heard!

A PEAS AND CHEESE SANDWICH?!

Who is eating that without making a face?

Gross! šŸ¤®šŸ˜‚

But wait!

Before we throw that sandwich across the room, maybe we should remember something.

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

Because believe it or not, somebody somewhere might know how to prepare peas and cheese so deliciously that you’ll be asking for seconds!

And wouldn’t THAT be something?!

The very thing you turned your nose up at might become your favorite dish!

Now, isn’t that interesting?

Because we’re about to take this funny little conversation somewhere much deeper!

šŸ«• But Why Is It a Burden?

Let’s add that one little word to our peas and cheese.

BURDEN.

Why would peas and cheese become a burden?

Is it because it’s unfamiliar?

Because it doesn’t look appealing?

Because you don’t think it will taste good?

Because you’ve never heard of anyone putting those ingredients together?

Or simply because it doesn’t make sense to YOU?

WOW!

Now we’re getting somewhere!

What if the real burden isn’t the peas and cheese at all?

What if the burden is the judgmental attitude we’re carrying toward something we don’t understand?

OH, MY GOODNESS!

Did y’all catch that?!

We haven’t tasted it.

We haven’t investigated it.

We haven’t asked any questions.

We haven’t even given it a chance!

But somehow, we have already made a decision that it’s no good!

And isn’t that exactly what we sometimes do with people, places, opportunities, relationships, and situations?

We look at something unfamiliar and immediately begin making assumptions.

We judge the appearance.

We question the purpose.

We criticize the presentation.

And before we ever discover what it truly is, we’ve already thrown the whole thing out the window!

Lord, have mercy!

Sometimes the greatest burden we carry isn’t what someone has placed upon us. It’s the assumptions we’ve placed upon others!

šŸ“¦ What If God Sends It in an Unexpected Package?

Now, Blog Friends and Family, let’s go a little deeper.

WHAT IF?!

What if the very thing you’ve been praying for arrives in a package you weren’t expecting?

What if God sends you an opportunity that doesn’t look anything like what you imagined?

What if He sends someone into your life who doesn’t fit your usual expectations?

What if the answer to your prayer comes through a person you previously overlooked?

And what if those peas and cheese represent the very thing your life needs in this particular season?

OH, THAT’S GOOD! ā¤ļø

Think about it!

We pray and ask God for wisdom, direction, relationships, opportunities, restoration, and blessings.

But sometimes, when the answer arrives, we reject it because it doesn’t look the way we expected.

We say:

ā€œLord, that can’t be it!ā€

ā€œThat doesn’t make sense!ā€

ā€œThat’s not what I asked for!ā€

ā€œI don’t like how that looks!ā€

But what if God is saying:

ā€œYou asked Me for the answer, but you’re rejecting it because you don’t recognize the package.ā€

My goodness!

God is not limited by our expectations.

He is creative!

He is wise!

And He is able to use unexpected people, ordinary circumstances, and unusual situations to accomplish His purposes.

Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us that God’s thoughts and ways are higher than ours.

In other words, just because something doesn’t make sense to us doesn’t mean God cannot use it for something wonderful.

Now, that doesn’t mean we should accept everything that comes our way without question.

Absolutely not!

Discernment is necessary, but discernment and judgmental assumptions are not the same thing.

Discernment seeks wisdom and truth.

Judgmental assumptions reach conclusions without understanding.

And there is a BIG difference!

šŸ›‘ Stop! Before You Judge Those Peas and Cheese!

Have you ever been prejudged before someone even took the time to get to know you?

Have you ever walked into a room and someone assumed you didn’t know what you were doing?

Maybe it happened on your job.

Maybe it happened at church.

Maybe it happened in your family.

Or perhaps someone questioned your ability to raise your children, manage your household, lead a ministry, or carry out an assignment.

And before you could even explain yourself, they had already formed an opinion!

WOW!

Now, that’s a burden!

Imagine someone looking at you and thinking:

ā€œShe doesn’t know how to do that.ā€

ā€œHe’s not qualified.ā€

ā€œShe can’t handle that responsibility.ā€

ā€œThere’s no way that person can accomplish that!ā€

But to their surprise, you knew far more than they expected!

And not only did you know what you were doing, but you carried out the assignment with excellence!

Now, THAT can be a humbling experience for the person who underestimated you!

But let’s turn that mirror around for a moment.

Have WE ever done the same thing to someone else?

Have we ever made assumptions based on appearance, personality, background, education, or what someone else told us?

Have we ever entertained conversations with friends, coworkers, or family members about someone without knowing the whole story?

OUCH!

That one might pinch a little! 😳

Because sometimes we can become so comfortable with our own opinions that we mistake them for facts.

And when the truth finally comes out, we discover that our assumptions were completely wrong.

Proverbs 18:13 (KJV) says:

ā€œHe that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.ā€

OH, MY!

In other words, we should be careful about reaching conclusions before hearing and understanding the matter.

Because what we thought we knew may not have been the truth at all!

And carrying false assumptions can damage relationships, create unnecessary conflict, and cause us to miss opportunities we should have embraced.

Don’t allow an opinion without facts to become a burden you carry into someone else’s life!

🄘 Give Somebody a Chance to Make That Peas and Cheese Casserole!

Now, y’all!

Can we please give somebody a chance to create that peas and cheese casserole before we start criticizing the recipe?! 🤣

Maybe they know something we don’t!

Maybe that unusual combination is actually delicious!

Maybe somebody spent years perfecting that recipe!

And here we come, looking at the dish like somebody committed a crime in the kitchen!

LORD, HELP US! šŸ˜‚

Or imagine walking into a beautiful five-star restaurant.

The atmosphere is gorgeous.

The tables are beautifully decorated.

The chef is highly respected.

And there on the menu you see:

GOURMET PEAS AND CHEESE SANDWICH!Ā šŸ„ŖšŸ«›šŸ§€

WHAT?!?!

Now, wait a FULL WHOLE MINUTE! 🤣

Before you scratch that sandwich off the menu, wouldn’t it be wise to ask how it’s prepared?

Maybe the chef has created something extraordinary!

Of course, being on a five-star menu doesn’t automatically mean you’ll like it.

But how will you know if you refuse to even consider it?

And that’s my point!

Everything unfamiliar isn’t automatically bad, and everything different isn’t automatically wrong.

Sometimes we need to stop judging long enough to understand what we’re looking at!

ā¤ļø What If Your Kingdom Spouse Loves Peas and Cheese?

OH, NOW WE’RE GOING THERE! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Y’all, imagine this!

You’ve been praying and asking God to send you a wonderful, loving, faithful, God-fearing spouse.

Someone who respects you.

Someone who prays with you.

Someone who encourages you.

Someone who genuinely loves you!

And then one beautiful morning, your kingdom spouse walks into the kitchen and says:

ā€œGood morning, sweetheart! Can you fix me some sweet peas mixed with American cheese for breakfast?ā€

😳😳😳

PEAS AND CHEESE?!

FOR BREAKFAST?!

LORD, WHAT IN THE WORLD?! 🤣🤣

Now, what are you going to do?

Tell that wonderful person:

ā€œABSOLUTELY NOT! WE DON’T EAT THAT IN THIS HOUSE!ā€

Wait!

Hold on!

You’re willing to reject something your spouse enjoys simply because YOU don’t like it?

Now, isn’t that interesting?

You prayed for a loving relationship, but you’re allowing a difference in food preferences to become a problem!

And I’m not saying you have to eat those peas and cheese!

No, ma’am!

No, sir!

You can have your eggs and toast while they enjoy their unusual breakfast! šŸ˜‚

But here’s the lesson.

Love doesn’t require two people to like everything the same way. Love requires understanding, patience, respect, and a willingness to make room for differences.

What a burden it would be to carry unnecessary judgment into a marriage simply because someone enjoys something you don’t understand!

And I’m not just talking about food!

I’m talking about personalities.

Preferences.

Backgrounds.

Different ways of thinking.

Different ways of doing things.

Everything doesn’t have to be done YOUR way to be the RIGHT way!

WHEW!

Now, somebody needed that one!

šŸ™ Ask God for Wisdom Before Making a Decision!

Blog Friends and Family, here’s where I want us to really think.

How many opportunities have we dismissed because they looked unfamiliar?

How many people have we misunderstood because we never took the time to hear their stories?

How many relationships have been damaged because someone assumed the worst?

And how many blessings might we have overlooked because they didn’t arrive in the package we expected?

James 1:5 (KJV) reminds us:

ā€œIf any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.ā€

That’s what we need!

WISDOM!

Not just opinions.

Not assumptions.

Not somebody else’s interpretation.

But wisdom from God!

Before you dismiss something, pray about it.

Before you judge someone, take the time to understand.

Before you repeat something you’ve heard, make sure it’s true.

Before you make a decision, consider whether you’re responding from wisdom or personal preference.

And before you turn your nose up at those peas and cheese, find out what’s actually in the recipe! šŸ˜‚

Because you may discover that what looked strange at first was simply something you had never experienced before.

And remember, prayerful discernment doesn’t mean ignoring warning signs or abandoning healthy boundaries.

It means giving God room to guide your understanding instead of allowing fear, pride, or assumptions to make every decision for you.

šŸ’” Lauretta’s Aha Moment!

The Burden of Peas and Cheese!Ā šŸ«›šŸ§€

Who would have thought that such a funny, unusual expression could lead us into such an important conversation?

But here we are!

And here’s my Aha Moment!

Sometimes the burden isn’t what we’re looking at. The burden is the judgment we’re carrying while looking at it!

WOW!

Let that settle in your spirit for a moment!

We can spend so much time judging what we don’t understand that we completely miss the opportunity to discover its purpose.

Not everything unfamiliar is meant to be rejected.

Not every difference is a problem.

Not every unexpected package is a disappointment.

And not every person who thinks differently from you is wrong.

Sometimes the problem isn’t the peas.

Sometimes the problem isn’t the cheese.

Sometimes the problem is the attitude we brought to the table! 😳

OH, MY GOODNESS!

And wouldn’t it be something if God was trying to teach us patience, humility, understanding, and love through something we initially thought was ridiculous?

So, my dear Blog Friends and Family, let’s stop carrying unnecessary burdens created by assumptions.

Let’s give people a fair opportunity.

Let’s listen before we speak.

Let’s seek understanding before we criticize.

And most importantly, let’s ask God for the wisdom to recognize what is truly good, even when it looks different from what we expected.

Because sometimes, the very thing you were prepared to reject might turn out to be something wonderful!

And as for that FULL WHOLE MINUTE I mentioned at the beginning?

Well, I think we finally figured it out! šŸ˜‚

Sometimes we need to take a FULL WHOLE MINUTE to stop, think, pray, and understand before opening our mouths and making a decision!

NOW, THAT’S A FULL WHOLE MINUTE WORTH TAKING! šŸ¤£ā¤ļø

And who knows?

You might just discover that peas and cheese aren’t so bad after all!

Don’t let your assumptions become a burden that keeps you from recognizing a blessing!

Until next time, my Blog Friends and Family…

Keep smiling!

Keep laughing!

Keep growing!

And please, somebody tell me…

WHO IN THE WORLD IS MAKING THAT PEAS AND CHEESE SANDWICH?!Ā šŸ„ŖšŸ«›šŸ§€šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Because after writing this whole blog, I might just have to try one!

With love, laughter, and another Aha Moment! ā¤ļø
