Hey, Blog Friends and Family! ❤️
What a topic, right?!?!
IT’S A BEAUTIFUL THING! ❤️
Oh, my goodness! Just saying those words makes my heart smile!
Now, where in the world could this blog possibly be going today?
Well, I’m glad you asked! 😂
Because when I think about the goodness of God, this conversation could go in a hundred different directions!
And I mean a HUNDRED!
You see, sometimes we get so caught up looking for the BIG blessings that we overlook the little ones happening right before our eyes.
We look for the extraordinary while forgetting that simply waking up this morning was extraordinary all by itself!
Can I get an AMEN?! 🙌
Sometimes we are waiting for God to do something spectacular, not realizing that He has already been doing spectacular things in our lives every single day.
And that, my friends, is what dropped into my heart today.
It’s a beautiful thing!
Not because everything in life is perfect.
Not because every prayer has been answered the way I expected.
Not because I haven’t experienced disappointment, heartbreak, or seasons of uncertainty.
But because through it ALL, I have discovered something about God.
He’s dependable!
He’s reliable!
And He’s SELF-SUSTAINING!
He doesn’t need anybody to keep Him going. He doesn’t run out of strength, resources, wisdom, or power.
He is God all by Himself!
And the beautiful thing about serving a God who needs nothing to sustain Himself is that He has everything necessary to sustain ME!
Whew! Somebody ought to shout right there! ❤️
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Wake Up! 🌅
Every morning I open my eyes and discover that I still have breath in my body, I recognize that God has given me another opportunity to experience His goodness.
I didn’t wake myself up.
My alarm clock might have made some noise, but it certainly didn’t give me life! 😂
God did that!
He allowed me to wake up in my right mind, with the ability to think, move, breathe, and begin another day.
And while I was sleeping, completely unaware of what was happening around me, His watchful care never stopped.
The Bible reminds us:
“Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” — Psalm 121:4 (KJV)
Think about that!
While I was resting, God was still God!
It’s a beautiful thing!
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Arrive Safely! 🚗
Every morning, I get into my vehicle and travel through traffic on my way to work.
And y’all know how traffic can be!
Some people drive like they’re participating in the Indianapolis 500! 😂
Cars changing lanes, people rushing, horns blowing, and everybody trying to get somewhere!
But when I arrive safely at my destination, I don’t want to take that moment for granted.
I thank God for His protection.
Because arriving safely is not something I am automatically entitled to experience.
It’s another opportunity to recognize His mercy.
He’s my Keeper!
He’s my Sustainer!
And yes, my friends, it’s a beautiful thing!
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Work with Integrity! 🩸
Now, y’all already know that I’m a phlebotomy technician.
And I love what I do!
As a matter of fact, one of my favorite sayings is:
“I love what I’m doing, and I’m doing what I love!” ❤️
There is something beautiful about being able to walk into my workplace, put on my gloves, pick up my supplies, and care for another human being.
And here’s something else I’ve learned.
Integrity is not just doing the right thing when somebody is watching.
It’s doing the right thing when nobody is watching!
It’s treating every patient with dignity, compassion, kindness, and professionalism.
It’s remembering that the person sitting in that blood-draw chair is more than a number, a laboratory order, or another patient waiting in line.
That person matters!
And oh, what a beautiful thing it is when I finish drawing someone’s blood, and they get up smiling and say:
“Thank you for not hurting me!”
Now, THAT makes my day! 😂❤️
Sometimes it’s the smallest expressions of gratitude that leave the biggest impressions on our hearts.
Because serving others with excellence is another way to honor God.
Colossians 3:23 reminds us to do our work heartily, as unto the Lord.
And that, my friends, is a beautiful thing!
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Have Your Needs Met! ⛽🛒
Let me tell y’all something else.
It’s a beautiful thing when I can pull into a gas station, fill up my tank, and not have to worry about whether I have enough money to get home.
Can somebody relate?!
And if I feel like buying myself a cup of coffee, I can do that too! ☕😂
It’s a beautiful thing when I can walk into a grocery store, push my cart down the aisles, and purchase the things I need.
And yes, sometimes a few things I just WANT!
Don’t judge me! 😂
Maybe it’s a favorite snack, a delicious dessert, or something that wasn’t even on my grocery list!
Y’all know how that goes!
But here’s what touches my heart.
There were seasons when I had to be more careful about what I spent.
Seasons when decisions required more thought.
And even now, I recognize that everything I have is not simply the result of my own strength or ability.
God has been faithful.
The food in my refrigerator, the gas in my vehicle, the clothes on my back, and the roof over my head are reminders of His provision.
And I don’t ever want to become so comfortable with having these things that I forget to say:
“Thank You, Lord!”
Because it’s a beautiful thing!
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Worship God! 🙌
Oh, and let me tell you something else!
It’s a beautiful thing to walk into the house of God and experience His presence through prayer, praise, worship, and the preaching of His Word.
There is something so refreshing about entering a place where your spirit can be strengthened.
Where your heart can be encouraged.
Where burdens can be surrendered.
Where you can lift your hands and worship God simply because He is worthy!
Not because you need something.
Not because you’re asking for another blessing.
But because of WHO HE IS!
Sometimes I think we become so focused on what God can do for us that we forget the privilege of simply having a relationship with Him.
And when I think about the righteousness of Christ, His sacrifice, and the precious blood He shed for our redemption, my heart becomes even more grateful.
Because salvation is not something I could ever purchase, earn, or accomplish on my own.
It’s a gift of grace!
And oh, what a beautiful thing that is! ❤️
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Be Forgiven! ❤️
Now, let’s talk about something that should make every believer stop and think.
FORGIVENESS!
Have you ever made a mistake?
Have you ever said something you wish you could take back?
Have you ever made a decision and afterward thought:
“Lord, WHAT was I thinking?!” 😳
Well, welcome to being human!
But here’s the beautiful thing.
God doesn’t stop being faithful because we have fallen short.
First John 1:9 (KJV) says:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Did you catch that?
HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST!
God doesn’t excuse sin, but through Jesus Christ, He offers forgiveness, cleansing, and restoration to those who come to Him in repentance.
We don’t have to remain prisoners of yesterday’s mistakes.
We can acknowledge our wrongs, receive His forgiveness, learn, grow, and move forward.
That doesn’t mean our actions never happened or that consequences always disappear.
It means our past failures do not have to define our future in Christ.
Oh, what a beautiful thing!
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Come Through a Season Without Becoming Bitter! ❤️
Now, this part is personal.
And I mean PERSONAL!
I was married for 31 years.
THIRTY-ONE YEARS!
That’s a whole lot of birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, conversations, memories, laughter, responsibilities, and life experiences!
And although that chapter of my life came to an end, I can still look back and recognize that God was present through it all.
Was every moment perfect?
Absolutely not!
Did everything turn out the way I imagined when I first said, “I do”?
No, it didn’t.
But here’s something beautiful that I have come to understand.
Just because a chapter ends doesn’t mean the entire story was a mistake.
Whew!
Let that settle in your spirit for a moment.
There were beautiful moments.
There were valuable lessons.
There were blessings that came from those years.
And there were experiences that helped shape the woman I am today.
But one of the greatest blessings is this:
I did not have to carry bitterness into my next season.
I could have allowed disappointment to harden my heart.
I could have allowed painful memories to determine how I would see my future.
I could have built walls so high that nobody would ever have an opportunity to get close again.
But by the grace of God, I am choosing forgiveness, healing, peace, and freedom.
Not because the past didn’t matter.
Not because every wound disappeared overnight.
But because I refuse to allow what happened yesterday to steal the beauty of what God may have prepared for tomorrow.
And THAT, my friends, is a beautiful thing! ❤️
It’s a Beautiful Thing to Have Room in Your Heart to Love Again! ❤️❤️❤️
Now, hold on!
Because I have something else to say!
IT’S A BEAUTIFUL THING TO STILL BELIEVE IN LOVE!
Oh, yes, it is! 😂❤️
After 31 years of marriage, I still have room in my heart to love again.
Imagine that!
I can still smile at the thought of companionship.
I can still appreciate the beauty of two people loving and respecting one another.
I can still believe that a healthy, Christ-centered relationship is possible.
And yes, I can still pray that one day God will bless me with a godly man who loves the Lord and genuinely loves me!
Somebody say, “AMEN!” 😂🙌❤️
But here’s what makes this season different.
I am not looking for someone to complete me.
I am trusting God to continue making me whole in Him.
I don’t need to rush.
I don’t need to force anything.
And I certainly don’t need to compromise my peace just to say I have somebody!
Because love should not require me to abandon the woman God has helped me become.
And if God allows another beautiful love story to unfold in my life, I want it to be rooted in faith, friendship, respect, honesty, kindness, and genuine love.
But until then?
I’m going to keep living!
Keep laughing!
Keep growing!
Keep writing!
Keep serving!
And keep enjoying this beautiful life God has given me!
Because my life is not on hold while I wait for another chapter to begin.
I’m already living in a beautiful chapter right now!
And THAT is a beautiful thing! ❤️
The Beautiful Thing About a Self-Sustaining God
Now, let’s bring this whole conversation together.
What does it really mean when I say God is dependable, reliable, and self-sustaining?
It means His existence does not depend on mine.
His power does not depend on my circumstances.
His faithfulness does not depend on whether I understand what He’s doing.
He is not running low on mercy.
He is not searching for additional strength.
He is not waiting for someone to supply His needs.
He is the Creator, not the created.
He is the Source, not the one searching for a source!
Acts 17:25 reminds us that God is not served by human hands as though He needed anything, because He gives life, breath, and all things.
Now, isn’t that something?!
The very God who needs nothing is the One who gives us everything necessary for life.
And even during seasons when life doesn’t look beautiful, His character remains unchanged.
That is why I can trust Him when things are going well.
And I can trust Him when things are uncertain.
I can praise Him when my heart is overflowing.
And I can lean on Him when my heart is hurting.
Because His faithfulness is not measured by how easy my life becomes.
His faithfulness is rooted in who He is!
And that brings me to my final thought.
❤️ My Aha Moment: The Beauty Was Never Just in the Blessing!
AHA! THERE IT IS! 💡❤️
Sometimes we spend so much time admiring the blessings that we forget to recognize the One behind them.
We see the groceries, but forget the Provider.
We see the paycheck, but forget the One who gave us the ability to work.
We see the safe arrival, but forget to thank the One who watched over us.
We see the healing, but forget the One who helped us through the pain.
We see another opportunity to love, but forget the One who kept our hearts from becoming hardened.
And sometimes we look at a chapter that ended and fail to recognize the grace that carried us into a new beginning.
But here’s my Aha Moment!
The most beautiful thing in my life is not that I have everything I want.
It’s that I belong to a God who remains faithful even when life doesn’t give me everything I expected!
My circumstances may change.
People may come and go.
Seasons may begin and end.
But God is still God!
He’s dependable when I don’t have the answers.
He’s reliable when life becomes unpredictable.
And He’s self-sustaining, which means His ability to care for me will never be exhausted.
So, the next time you wake up, drive to work, buy groceries, worship God, receive forgiveness, or discover that your heart still has room to love, take a moment to recognize the beauty in it all.
Not just the beauty of what you have.
But the beauty of WHO has been carrying you!
Because a beautiful life isn’t a life without challenges. It’s a life where you can still recognize the goodness of God in the middle of them.
And my friends, let me leave you with this:
“The blessing is beautiful, but the One who blesses is greater. The season may change, but the God who sustains me never will.” ❤️
Now, THAT is a beautiful thing!
Until next time, my Blog Friends and Family…
Keep smiling, keep believing, keep loving, and keep recognizing the beautiful things God is doing in your life!
With love, laughter, and a grateful heart, ❤️
