God Has a Great Sense of Humor ❤️ I Loved This!
Hey, Family and Friends!
What a day!
As a matter of fact, what a GREAT and AMAZING day!
Who would have thought something so fantastic would meet me at the mall?
The mall, I say! 😂
Did you hear me? THE MALL!
I didn’t plan it.
I didn’t expect it.
I certainly didn’t know what was waiting for me.
But God did.
And even though I’m back home now, I’m still smiling about the incredible people I met and the unexpected experience God allowed me to have.
Sometimes God has a way of simply saying:
“SURPRISE!” ❤️
And this surprise came on the other side of something very simple:
Obedience.
Let Me Explain…
It was my day off from work.
Usually, on my days off, I’m perfectly content being at home—cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, writing blogs, working on another book, or just enjoying my own space.
But today, I felt that little spiritual tap on my shoulder.
Not literally, y’all! 😂
But that gentle prompting in my spirit:
Get out of the house. Go to the mall.
Okay, let me be honest.
I dragged around for a minute. 😂
I watched the clock. I debated with myself. I kept thinking about what time I should get dressed and leave.
Part of me was saying, Do I really want to go anywhere today?
But here’s something I’m learning: God doesn’t have to shout to get our attention. Sometimes His direction comes through a quiet nudge—something small enough that we could easily ignore it.
And we still have a choice.
Will I obey, or will I stay comfortable?
So…
I got dressed.
Put myself together.
And went to the mall!
But Let Me Ask You Something…
How many times have you felt God leading you to do something, but you flat-out refused?
How many times have you talked yourself out of something because it didn’t make sense?
And here’s the bigger question:
How many blessings could we be missing simply because we refuse to move?
Whew!
Sometimes our biggest battle isn’t with the devil.
Sometimes it’s with our own flesh saying:
I don’t feel like it.
I don’t want to.
I’ll do it later.
That doesn’t make sense.
Today reminded me that I need to do better at recognizing and responding to God’s gentle direction.
In other words:
OBEY!
Now…back to my blessing! 😂❤️
Something Was Waiting for Me
I arrived at the mall and went into several stores to pick up a few things for my house.
Eventually, I headed into a department store.
While I was looking around, one of the store associates mentioned that they were giving out gift cards and told me to get in line.
Now y’all know what I was thinking:
A gift card?! Free money?! Where’s the line? 😂
So I got in line.
Little did I know that the gift card wasn’t going to be the highlight of my day.
While standing there, I learned that Sam Edelman would be arriving around noon. Customers would have an opportunity to meet him, take pictures, and have items signed.
Now I’m standing there thinking:
Who is Sam Edelman? 😂
I looked around and noticed this beautiful display of shoes with his name on them.
Okay…
Now you’ve got my attention.
I saw a pair of tennis shoes that caught my eye, tried them on…
Loved them…
And bought them!
Then suddenly, an announcement came across the intercom:
Sam Edelman is in the building!
Okay then! 😂
And there he was.
A tall gentleman with a pleasant disposition, accompanied by his absolutely gorgeous wife.
Now it was time for me to meet Mr. Sam Edelman.
My Turn!
I was excited—but calm.
I walked over to the table, introduced myself, and handed him my shoebox to sign.
He signed it, told me it was nice to meet me, and we shared a brief but very pleasant conversation.
Then it was picture time!
We took several pictures, and at one point the person taking them suggested that I pull my hat up above my eyes.
But Mr. Edelman said to leave it because that’s how she likes it.
Wait a minute!
He understood the assignment! 😂😂😂
Don’t mess with the stylish hat!
I thought that was such a considerate little gesture. It may have seemed small, but it showed me that he was paying attention to the person standing in front of him.
Thank you, Mr. Edelman, for letting me keep my hat exactly where I wanted it! 😂❤️
But y’all…
That wasn’t all.
Flowers Too?! 💐
Afterward, his team directed me to another area where customers could create their own flower bouquets.
Flowers?!
Okay, now!
So once again, I stood in line, talked with people, made some new friends, and arranged the most beautiful bouquet of flowers to take home.
At this point, I’m still not completely clear on everything about this gentleman.
I’m just enjoying the moment!
I bought comfortable shoes.
Got my shoebox signed.
Took pictures.
Made a beautiful flower bouquet.
And I’m thinking:
Well, this was certainly worth leaving the house for!
But…
THAT’S NOT ALL, Y’ALL! 😂
Hot Chocolate Too?!
They also treated us to our choice of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
So, of course, I got myself some hot chocolate with a little vanilla flavor.
Then I took the gift card I’d been given and used it toward a beautiful bracelet. ❤️
Shoes.
Pictures.
Autograph.
Flowers.
Hot chocolate.
Bracelet.
New friends.
All because I got out of the house!
God, You really do have a sense of humor! 😂❤️
I wasn’t expecting this level of hospitality or kindness. The entire experience was exceptional, and I won’t forget it.
But somewhere in the middle of all the fun, something deeper began happening in my heart.
God, What Are You Saying to Me?
As I reflected on the day, I felt these words in my spirit:
I see you.
I remember My promises concerning you.
I have not forgotten you.
I love you.
Receive what I have for you today.
And maybe that was the real gift.
It wasn’t just the shoes.
It wasn’t the flowers.
It wasn’t the hot chocolate.
It wasn’t the bracelet.
It wasn’t even meeting someone successful and well-known.
It was the reminder.
Sometimes when you’ve been carrying things privately, praying quietly, waiting patiently, and wondering whether God sees what’s happening in your life, He will use an ordinary moment to remind you:
I SEE YOU.
And that was exactly what I needed today.
Just when you begin feeling alone, overlooked, or forgotten, God can send a reminder from a place you never expected.
For me today…
He sent mine at the mall! 😂❤️
What If I Had Stayed Home?
That’s the question I keep thinking about.
What if I had ignored that little prompting?
What if I had said:
Nope. I’m staying home.
I would have missed the entire experience.
And that’s when the lesson became bigger than the mall.
I don’t believe this was simply about Sam Edelman coming out to promote his products. What stood out to me was the atmosphere of generosity, hospitality, and kindness.
People were smiling.
People were talking.
People who didn’t know one another were connecting.
And I met people who were willing to share pieces of their personal journeys. In those conversations, I found myself able to say:
“Me too.”
And sometimes those two words are enough to remind somebody:
You’re not alone.
That meant something to me.
Because I was having my own private moment before I ever walked into that mall.
Then suddenly…
There was laughter.
There were flowers.
There was conversation.
There was kindness.
There was generosity.
There were strangers connecting.
And there was hope.
Sometimes God doesn’t change everything around you in one day.
Sometimes He simply sends something into your day that reminds you that life is still beautiful.
My Aha Moment ❤️
So, Family and Friends, let me leave you with this:
Be obedient even when you don’t understand where God is leading you.
Sometimes the instruction may seem too small to matter.
Get up.
Go.
Call.
Speak.
Wait.
Move.
Try again.
Walk through the door.
You don’t always know what’s waiting on the other side of your obedience.
And while you’re there, step outside of your comfort zone.
Meet people.
Talk to somebody different from you.
Don’t allow race, status, age, background, titles, or appearances to determine who you believe God can use to bless, encourage, or teach you.
Kindness doesn’t have a color.
Compassion doesn’t have a social status.
And a blessing doesn’t always arrive looking the way you imagined it would.
Sometimes God will use the most unexpected person, in the most unexpected place, on the most ordinary day to give you exactly the reminder your heart needed.
Today, mine came with shoes, flowers, hot chocolate, a bracelet, a stylish hat…
and a whole lot of laughter! 😂❤️
Aha Moment 💡
Sometimes the blessing isn’t just where God sends you—it’s what He has already positioned there waiting for you.
So the next time you feel that gentle nudge to get up and go…
GO!
You never know what God may have waiting for you at the mall. 😂❤️
