The Time Is Now — Build
Nehemiah 2:18
“Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
As I sought the Lord about how to begin this blog, I sensed something very strongly in my spirit:
This is not a suggestion. This is a command.
Build, for the time is now.
There is an urgency in the Spirit. God is calling His people to stop waiting, stop hesitating, stop looking for someone else to do what He has assigned them to do.
The door of opportunity is open.
The season of preparation has produced its fruit.
The excuses must end.
The time is now to build.
Nehemiah: A Blueprint for Rebuilding
One of the most powerful books in the Bible for this season is the Book of Nehemiah.
Nehemiah was not merely rebuilding a wall.
He was rebuilding a nation.
He was restoring hope.
He was repairing what had been broken.
When Nehemiah heard that Jerusalem’s walls had been destroyed and its gates burned with fire, he was deeply grieved. Yet instead of complaining, blaming others, or accepting defeat, he prayed, fasted, and sought God.
God then opened doors that no man could shut.
The king granted Nehemiah permission, resources, and authority to rebuild.
But the moment the work began, opposition appeared.
Critics arose.
Mockers emerged.
Threats followed.
Distractions multiplied.
Yet Nehemiah remained focused on the assignment God had given him.
One of the most powerful declarations in Scripture is found in Nehemiah 6:3:
“I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down.”
In other words:
“I don’t have time to argue with critics.”
“I don’t have time to defend myself.”
“I don’t have time to be distracted.”
“I am too busy doing what God called me to do.”
What wisdom for us today.
Many people abandon their assignment because they spend too much time responding to critics instead of building what God placed in their hands.
My Personal Nehemiah Story
This story resonates deeply with me because I, too, have been rebuilding.
After my divorce, God began rebuilding areas of my life that I thought had been permanently damaged.
He helped me relocate to another state.
He opened doors for a new career opportunity.
He established iCaringHands Mobile Phlebotomy Service.
He enabled me to write and publish books.
He strengthened my relationship with my sons.
He blessed me with favorable health reports.
He restored my hope.
He restored my purpose.
While others may see the progress more clearly than I do, I simply keep building.
One brick at a time.
One prayer at a time.
One act of obedience at a time.
And what God is building is beautiful.
The Wall Is Going Back Up
Nehemiah 2:20
“The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build.”
Perhaps the greatest lesson from Nehemiah is this:
Sometimes God allows the wall to come down so He can rebuild it stronger than before.
The divorce.
The disappointment.
The setback.
The rejection.
The betrayal.
The financial hardship.
The health scare.
What looked like devastation may actually be the foundation for God’s next season.
God is rebuilding.
The wall is going back up.
The dream is being rebuilt.
The vision is being restored.
The purpose is being renewed.
The joy is returning.
And the enemy cannot stop what God has ordained.
Builders Change Nations
Whether you agree with every political decision or not, history shows us that nations need builders.
Builders solve problems.
Builders create opportunities.
Builders restore what has been neglected.
Builders refuse to sit around complaining while things deteriorate.
The Bible reminds us that God ultimately establishes leaders and directs the course of nations.
Proverbs 21:1
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; like the rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wishes.”
As believers, our responsibility is not merely to criticize.
Our responsibility is to pray, discern, and do our part.
While governments work to rebuild nations, God is calling each of us to rebuild our own lives.
Rebuild your faith.
Rebuild your family.
Rebuild your finances.
Rebuild your health.
Rebuild your business.
Rebuild your dreams.
Rebuild your relationship with God.
The greatest nation-building begins with personal responsibility.
A Challenge to the Reader
What has God placed in your hands to build?
What dream have you delayed?
What vision have you postponed?
What assignment have you avoided because of fear, criticism, or uncertainty?
The time for excuses has expired.
The time for blaming others has passed.
The time for waiting has ended.
God is saying:
Build.
Build the business.
Build the ministry.
Build the book.
Build the relationship.
Build the vision.
Build the future.
Build what I have placed in your heart.
The time is now.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for being the Master Builder of our lives. Give us the courage to pick up the tools You have placed in our hands. Help us ignore distractions, overcome opposition, and remain faithful to the assignment You have given us. Strengthen us to rebuild what has been broken and restore what has been lost. Let us arise and build for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The wall is going back up.
The dream is being rebuilt.
The time is now. Build.
