Trust the Process

Over the years, I thought that I failed God.

It seemed as though I kept missing the mark—making wrong decisions, doing my own thing, moving ahead of God, and believing that I knew what was best for my life. More times than I care to admit, I tried to help God out. I thought if I worked harder, planned better, or moved faster, I could somehow speed up the process.

Yet through it all, God never took His eyes off me.

Even when I wandered ahead of Him, He never allowed me to go too far. His grace continued to guide me, protect me, and redirect me, even when I could not see His hand at work.

Then came a season when I had no choice but to depend completely on Him.

I didn’t have a clue what to do.

The plans I thought would work didn’t work. The answers I thought I had disappeared. The doors I expected to open remained closed. I found myself standing in a place where trusting God was no longer an option—it was a necessity.

What I eventually learned is that God hears every conversation, sees every hidden detail, and knows every move long before we make it. When things are done in the dark, nothing escapes His attention. He already knows how to position us, protect us, and direct our steps according to His purpose.

That is why we must trust the process.

Sometimes we don’t understand where God is taking us.

Sometimes we don’t know how we arrived at a certain place in life.

Sometimes we feel stuck, delayed, stretched, disappointed, or uncomfortable.

Yet God is working behind the scenes.

Growth often happens before we recognize it.

Many of us want to understand every detail of God’s plan before we take the next step. We want the roadmap, the timeline, and the guarantee that everything will work out exactly as we imagined. But God rarely works that way.

Instead, He invites us to trust the process.

Think about a seed planted in the ground. For a season, nothing appears to be happening. The seed is hidden beneath the soil. No growth is visible. No fruit can be seen. Yet beneath the surface, roots are forming. Strength is developing. Life is taking shape.

The same is true in our lives.

There are moments when we feel delayed. Moments when doors seem closed. Moments when we question whether we are moving forward at all. Yet God is often doing His greatest work in the unseen places.

Trust the process.

Trust God’s timing.

Trust God’s wisdom.

Trust God’s hand.

The same God who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

Scripture

“Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6

Trust the Process

There are seasons in life when we find ourselves asking, “How did I get here?”

Not because we arrived at a bad place, but because we look around and realize that life has changed. We have changed. The things we once prayed for have begun to unfold, and yet the journey didn’t happen the way we expected.

Sometimes we are growing and don’t even realize it.

Sometimes God elevates us before we recognize what He has done.

Sometimes He protects us from opportunities that are not meant for us.

Sometimes He slows us down because He is preparing us for something greater than what we currently understand.

Trusting the process does not mean we have all the answers. It means we trust the One who does.

The process may feel uncomfortable.

The process may feel slow.

The process may stretch us beyond what feels familiar.

But growth often happens in the stretching.

What if the very thing that feels uncertain today is actually preparing you for tomorrow?

What if the delay is developing your character?

What if the closed door is protecting your purpose?

What if God is doing more behind the scenes than you can currently see?

The truth is, we do not need to understand every step to trust God with our journey.

The Lord is faithful.

He knows where He is taking you.

He knows what He is developing within you.

He knows the purpose attached to your life.

Today, take a deep breath and release the need to figure everything out.

Questions for the Heart

  1. Where am I struggling to trust God’s timing?

  2. What lesson might God be teaching me in this season?

  3. Am I focused on the process or only the outcome?

  4. What evidence of growth can I see in my life today?

  5. How can I surrender my plans to God more fully?

Prayer

Father, help me trust You when I cannot see the full picture. Give me patience during seasons of waiting and confidence during seasons of growth. Teach me to rest in Your faithfulness and to trust that You are working all things together for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
