Yes, You!

Why not, friend?

I am tired of seeing copycats on display.

Everywhere we look—across social media, television, and even among our young people—we see people trying to imitate someone else’s life, style, personality, or success. Whether it’s celebrities, influencers, or the latest trend, everyone seems to be chasing someone else’s identity.

But here’s my question…

Where has our uniqueness gone?

Why are we so afraid to be ourselves?

Has God not already given each of us something special? Something that belongs to us and no one else?

God never intended for us to become copies of one another. He created each of us with purpose, personality, gifts, and individuality that cannot be duplicated.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 139:14:

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

That means you are not an accident.

You are not a mistake.

You are not a duplicate.

You are God’s original masterpiece.

Think about that.

Before you ever took your first breath, God already knew your smile, your laugh, your voice, your personality, your gifts, your dreams, and even your purpose. He didn’t accidentally make you different.

He intentionally made you unique.

So why spend your life trying to become someone else?

Never despise who God created you to be.

You are fabulous.

You are beautiful.

You are handsome.

You are intelligent.

You are gifted.

You are creative.

You are compassionate.

You are strong.

You are worthy.

Even if you don’t look like everyone else…

Even if your personality is different…

Even if your path looks different…

That’s exactly how God designed you.

Walk with your head held high.

Square your shoulders.

Walk into every room knowing that your confidence doesn’t come from people—it comes from the God who created you.

If there is something about yourself that genuinely needs to change, then change it.

Growth is not becoming someone else.

Growth is becoming the best version of who God designed you to be.

As life continues, we all evolve.

We grow in wisdom.

We grow in knowledge.

We grow in character.

We grow through disappointment.

We grow through victories.

We grow through pain.

We grow through healing.

We grow as parents.

We grow into empty nesters.

We grow spiritually.

Growth is healthy.

We were never called to stay stagnant.

We were created to mature, develop, and advance into everything God has prepared for us.

There was a season when I didn’t understand what God was doing in my life.

Every difficult season looked like punishment.

Every trial felt like failure.

Every closed door felt like rejection.

When friendships ended…

When my marriage ended…

When life became uncomfortable…

I questioned myself.

But looking back now, I realize God wasn’t destroying me.

He was developing me.

He was strengthening my character.

He was increasing my faith.

He was teaching me to depend on Him instead of people.

He was preparing me for the next chapter of my life.

Some seasons aren’t meant to break you.

They’re meant to build you.

I had to learn who Lauretta really was.

Not who people expected me to be.

Not who society told me to become.

But who God created me to be.

Today, I genuinely love being me.

I love looking in the mirror.

I love the woman God is still shaping.

I love becoming more confident with every season.

If I catch myself walking with my head down, I quickly make an adjustment.

I lift my head.

I straighten my posture.

I remind myself whose daughter I am.

Now that I dare to be different, I trust God more.

I depend on Him as my Provider.

My Source.

My Strength.

My Peace.

My Confidence.

So let your personality shine.

Laugh.

Smile.

Be joyful.

Be creative.

Be bold.

Be goofy.

Be kind.

Be authentic.

It’s okay to stand out.

The people God has assigned to your life are not looking for another copy of someone else.

They’re waiting for you.

We need men and women who are comfortable in their God-given identity.

We don’t need more copycats.

We don’t need carefully crafted images pretending to be something they’re not.

We need authentic people who are willing to live with integrity, purpose, and confidence.

Our children don’t simply need more celebrities, athletes, influencers, or movie stars to imitate.

They need real people who are living out the purpose God placed inside of them.

Maybe…

That person is you.

Closing

Dare to be different.

Be unapologetically you.

Don’t spend your life chasing someone else’s identity when God has already given you your own.

Your uniqueness is your strength.

Your authenticity is your influence.

Your testimony is your assignment.

Walk boldly in who God created you to be, because the world doesn’t need another imitation.

It needs the original.

Be you.

Be authentic.

Be fearless.

And never apologize for standing out when God created you to shine.

And never be afraid to be exactly who God created you to be.
