Stop Decorating Temporary Places

God Says, “It’s Time!”

“Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest.”

Hey Family,

Have you ever tried to make a temporary season into a permanent address?

I know I have.

There have been moments in my life when I settled into a place that God only intended for me to pass through. What was designed to be a transition somehow became my comfort zone. Before I knew it, I was decorating a season that God had already planned for me to leave.

Can you relate?

How many of us have found ourselves holding on to people, places, jobs, relationships, disappointments, or even painful experiences that were only meant to be temporary?

It was never supposed to become home.

Yet comfort has a way of convincing us that where we are is where we belong. We become familiar with the routine, the surroundings, and even the struggle. What was meant to shelter us for a season slowly begins to feel permanent.

I found myself in that very situation.

Have you?

I’m willing to bet many of us have.

So let me ask you a question:

How much longer do you plan on staying there?

What if the place you’ve been calling home is really just a waiting room for your next assignment?

Sometimes God allows us to stay in a place long enough to grow, heal, learn, or prepare—but never to remain there forever. Transition can feel permanent while you’re living through it, but God’s intention was always movement.

People are temporary.

Places are temporary.

Certain seasons are temporary.

They are often nothing more than shelters God uses while preparing you for what comes next.

Don’t mistake your transition for your destination.

Because when God says, “Next…” He’s inviting you to leave the temporary behind and step into the purpose He has been preparing all along.

God Says, “It’s Time”

Can I be honest with you?

When God first began dealing with me about moving, I wasn’t ready.

In my mind I was thinking, “Maybe next year…or perhaps the year after that. Surely not now.”

But God had a different timeline.

The signs became impossible to ignore.

At first I questioned myself.

“Am I overthinking this?”

“Is this really God, or is it just my imagination?”

Have you ever been there?

When you know God is speaking, but you’re trying to convince yourself He’s not?

The Holy Spirit gently reminded me,

“No, you’re not overthinking. It’s Me. It’s time.”

Time to move.

Time to let go.

Time to transition.

Because I was still hesitant, God continued to confirm what He had already spoken.

One thing after another began happening around me.

The wood flooring in my apartment started coming apart.

The new lock my landlord had installed suddenly came loose.

A picture unexpectedly fell from the wall.

Then came the day I was lying peacefully in bed when, out of nowhere, a huge spider crawled across my comforter right beside me!

Listen…when I tell you I jumped up so fast, nobody could have caught me! I laugh about it now, but in that moment I was completely done!

As if that wasn’t enough, my Amazon packages began disappearing from my front porch.

A homeless encampment filled with drug activity had developed not far from where I lived.

One sign after another…

Then came the moment that removed every bit of doubt.

One night an intoxicated, naked man went on a destructive rampage through the neighborhood. He broke into several homes, jumped through windows, injured himself, damaged vehicles, and eventually made his way toward my apartment complex.

The police arrested him right in front of my building.

At that moment I didn’t need another confirmation.

God had already spoken.

This was simply the final reminder that it was time to move.

I smiled and said,

“Okay, Lord…I hear You. I’m moving!”

Upgrade

One thing I’ve learned about God is this:

When He moves you, He doesn’t move you just for movement’s sake.

He moves you with purpose.

Whether it’s a new home…

A new job…

A new ministry…

A new city…

Or a brand-new season…

God’s transitions are designed to move you forward.

He’s not interested in keeping you stuck in the same place with a different address.

His plans always have purpose.

Sometimes the upgrade isn’t just bigger—it brings greater peace.

Greater safety.

Greater favor.

Greater opportunities.

Greater joy.

If God is asking you to trust Him enough to leave what’s familiar, you can be confident that He’s already prepared what’s ahead.

Sometimes all heaven is saying is…

“Surprise!”

Surprise!

Surprise!

Surprise!

A New Beginning

So I chose to trust Him.

Even though I couldn’t see the entire picture…

Even though I didn’t understand every detail…

I stepped out in faith.

And what God had prepared was far better than anything I could have imagined.

The peace.

The excitement.

The fresh beginning.

The unexpected blessing.

Only God could have orchestrated something this beautiful.

What looked like the end of one chapter was actually the beginning of something greater.

And just like that…

God gave me the best upgrade I never saw coming.

Closing

So let me leave you with this question…

What temporary place have you been decorating?

Has it become your comfort zone?

Maybe it’s a job.

Maybe it’s a relationship.

Maybe it’s a neighborhood.

Maybe it’s fear.

Maybe it’s disappointment.

Maybe it’s a mindset that no longer serves the purpose God has for your life.

Whatever it is, don’t become so comfortable that you miss God’s invitation to your next season.

Sometimes God doesn’t remove us because He is angry with us.

He moves us because He loves us too much to let us stay where we’ve outgrown.

Remember…

Every closed door isn’t rejection.

Every transition isn’t punishment.

Every ending isn’t a loss.

Sometimes it’s simply Heaven saying,

“It’s time.”

Don’t be afraid to pack up what no longer fits your future.

Trust the God who sees what you cannot.

If He’s asking you to move, it’s because He’s already gone ahead of you.

There is greater peace waiting.

Greater purpose waiting.

Greater favor waiting.

Greater opportunities waiting.

And yes…

An even greater upgrade waiting.

So stop decorating temporary places.

Stop calling a transition your destination.

When God says, “It’s time,” don’t argue…

Don’t delay…

Don’t settle…

Move.

Because your next is waiting.

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

Until your next Aha Moment, remember…

Sometimes the greatest act of faith isn’t holding on.

It’s having the courage to let go and trust God enough to step into your next.
