Are We Not All One Body?
1 Corinthians 12:12 (KJV)
“For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

Hey, Blog Friends and Family! ❤️
I have a question for you today!
WHEN DID WORKING TOGETHER BECOME A COMPETITION?!? 🤔😮
Seriously!
When did we become so concerned about somebody else’s position, title, assignment, recognition, and accomplishments that we forgot we have a job to do ourselves?
WHAT HAPPENED TO TEAMWORK?!?
WHAT HAPPENED TO UNITY?!?
AND WHAT HAPPENED TO JUST GETTING THE JOB DONE?!? ✅
I remember a time when we didn’t care who had what, where they lived, or what fancy title was attached to their name.
We simply worked together!
Who cared if your job title was Executive Manager?
Who cared if you were the manager of this department or that department?
And who cared if you didn’t have a title at all?
THE WORK STILL HAD TO GET DONE!
Everybody had a responsibility. Everybody had a role. And everybody understood that the assignment was bigger than any one individual.
We stayed in our lanes, supported one another, and worked together to accomplish the goal.
But somewhere along the way, something changed.
And Blog Family, I have to ask:
WHEN DID SOMEBODY ELSE DOING THEIR PART BECOME A PROBLEM FOR YOU DOING YOURS?!? 🥹
Well, let’s talk about it!
Because I have a little childhood story that might help us understand where I’m going with this one! 😂
🧹 Saturday Morning at Grandma’s House!
Now, let me take y’all back a few years!
I remember growing up in my grandmother’s household with four of my cousins.
And let me tell you something!
SATURDAY MORNING WAS NOT PLAYTIME! 🤣🤣
Oh, no!
Grandma had a PLAN!
And that plan included every last one of us!
She assigned each of us household duties that had to be completed before noon.
Somebody had to mop the floors.
Somebody had to wash the dishes.
Somebody had to clean the bathroom.
Somebody had to clean those baseboards.
And somebody had to take care of the laundry, hanging clothes on the line and folding them afterward.
And guess what?
WE DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO ARGUE ABOUT WHO WAS DOING WHAT! 😂
Why?
Because we wanted to GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!
That was our motivation!
Nobody was standing around saying:
“Why do I have to mop the floor?”
“Why does she get to wash the dishes?”
“Why can’t I do what he’s doing?”
NO, MA’AM!
NO, SIR!
We had one objective!
GET THOSE CHORES DONE BEFORE NOON! ✅🤣
And while we were working, Grandma was in that kitchen preparing breakfast.
But let me tell you something else!
If Grandma heard too much complaining, arguing, or fussing about those chores…
GUESS WHAT?!?
SHE WAS COMING OUT OF THAT KITCHEN SWINGING THAT BELT! 🤣🤣🤣
OH, LORD!
Grandma wasn’t having it!
You either got those chores done, or you were going to have a whole different kind of Saturday morning! 😂
Now, before y’all start laughing too hard, let me ask you something.
DO YOU REALIZE WHAT GRANDMA WAS TEACHING US?
She was preparing us for adulthood!
She was teaching us:
How to respect authority.
How to develop strong work ethics.
How to work with integrity.
How to become responsible adults.
How to develop godly character.
How to respect our elders and leaders.
How to work together without unnecessary competition.
How to complete an assignment whether somebody was watching or not.
And most importantly, she was teaching us that everybody has a responsibility, and everybody’s contribution matters!
We didn’t understand all of that back then.
We just wanted to go outside and play! 🤣
But looking back, I realize Grandma was teaching us life lessons that would follow us into adulthood.
AND SOME OF US NEED TO GO BACK TO GRANDMA’S HOUSE FOR A REFRESHER COURSE! 😂😂
Because apparently, somebody forgot how to stay in their lane and get their chores done!
🚦 Stay in Your Lane!
Now, Blog Family!
Here comes the BIG QUESTION!
What is the problem with minding your own business, working with your own hands, fulfilling your responsibilities, and allowing somebody else to fulfill theirs?
Seriously!
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?!? 🥹
You have a part to play in this big, gigantic picture called LIFE!
And guess what?
SO DO THEY!
Are you not satisfied with the assignment God has given you?
Is your responsibility not enough?
Or could it be that you’re too busy watching somebody else’s assignment to appreciate your own?
OH, WAIT!
I THINK I SEE WHAT’S HAPPENING HERE! 😮
You’re upset because you’re not sitting on the FRONT ROW!
You want to be seen!
You want to be noticed!
You want somebody to recognize your name, your gift, your talent, and your position!
OH, I GET IT NOW!
So because you’re sitting on the back row, you’ve decided to create havoc for everybody sitting on the front row?
REALLY?!?
How selfish is that?
You would rather stir up an entire department, disrupt somebody else’s peace, and interfere with people who are simply trying to do their jobs to the best of their God-given abilities!
And for what?
ATTENTION?!?
RECOGNITION?!?
A POSITION?!?
Or is it because you secretly want the assignment somebody else has?
Let me tell you something!
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DIM SOMEBODY ELSE’S LIGHT FOR YOURS TO SHINE!
And you certainly don’t have to tear down somebody else’s assignment to prove that yours matters.
God has given you something to do!
SO DO YOUR PART! ❤️
⛪ 2819 Church — Everybody Has an Assignment!
Now, let me bring this conversation into the Body of Christ.
Recently, I was watching YouTube, and once again, I came across discussions and criticism surrounding a popular pastor and his ministry.
And yes, I’m going to say the name!
2819 Church!
Over the past few years, I’ve watched this ministry grow and reach thousands of people with the message of Jesus Christ.
From what I’ve observed, there are people who are hungry for the Word of God, committed to growing in their faith, and seeking a deeper relationship with Christ.
Not man!
BUT CHRIST JESUS!
Yet I’ve also seen criticism directed toward the pastor and the work being accomplished through that ministry.
Now, let me make something perfectly clear.
There is nothing wrong with biblical accountability, examining doctrine, or addressing genuine concerns.
The Bible teaches us to test what we hear and exercise spiritual discernment.
But there is a difference between godly correction and jealous criticism!
And we must be careful not to confuse the two.
If God has given someone an assignment, and that person is faithfully carrying it out according to His Word, why should another person’s success in ministry become a reason for resentment?
Why should we be offended when people are being encouraged to seek Jesus Christ?
Why should another ministry’s growth make us feel that our assignment is somehow less important?
HOW DARE WE ALLOW JEALOUSY TO DIVIDE THE VERY BODY WE ARE CALLED TO BUILD UP?!?
Blog Family!
THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT A COMPETITION!
And the Body of Christ is not a popularity contest!
Let’s look at what the Bible says.
📖 Ephesians 4:11–12 (ESV)
Verse 11:
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,”
Verse 12:
“to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,”
Now, PAY ATTENTION RIGHT HERE!
The Scripture says:
“AND HE GAVE…”
WHO GAVE?!?
CHRIST JESUS GAVE!
He gave apostles!
He gave prophets!
He gave evangelists!
He gave shepherds!
And He gave teachers!
WHY?!?
To equip the saints for the work of ministry and build up the Body of Christ!
Notice something important!
HE DIDN’T GIVE EVERYBODY THE SAME ASSIGNMENT!
But He gave each role a purpose in building up His Church.
The goal is not to compete with one another.
The goal is to equip, strengthen, mature, and encourage believers to become who God has called them to be.
So why are we bickering back and forth about somebody else’s gifts, calling, ministry, and assignment while ignoring what the Master has called us to do?
OH, MY GOODNESS!
We have got to do better!
YOUR ASSIGNMENT IS NOT INVALID JUST BECAUSE SOMEBODY ELSE’S ASSIGNMENT IS MORE VISIBLE!
Somebody has to preach!
Somebody has to teach!
Somebody has to encourage!
Somebody has to serve!
Somebody has to pray!
And somebody has to help behind the scenes!
Every part matters!
And when we all do our part, the Body of Christ is strengthened!
💉 Let Me Tell You What’s Happening on My Job!
Now, Blog Family, I’m going to bring this a little closer to home!
Because I have personally experienced something similar in my workplace.
And let me tell you!
I AM APPALLED! 😱
As many of you already know, I am a Phlebotomy Technician.
And let me say this!
I LOVE WHAT I DO, AND I DO WHAT I LOVE! ❤️💉
I have spent years studying my field, developing my skills, learning proper techniques, and becoming confident in my profession.
I take pride in being efficient with the needle, making blood draws as comfortable as possible, and minimizing bruising whenever possible.
And yes, I consider myself a skilled professional!
Not because I believe I’m better than somebody else.
Absolutely not!
But because I have invested time, effort, dedication, and discipline into becoming good at what I do.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONFIDENCE AND ARROGANCE!
And I refuse to apologize for developing the skills God has allowed me to acquire.
But what I cannot understand is the unnecessary competition and tension that can develop among coworkers.
WHY?!?
We’re supposed to be working together!
Everybody has their own pace.
Everybody has their own strengths.
Everybody has their own level of experience.
And everybody brings something valuable to the workplace.
So why are we competing with one another when the real objective is to provide quality patient care?
HELLO?!? 😮
WE ARE THERE FOR THE PATIENTS!
Not for applause!
Not for recognition!
Not to prove who can draw the most blood!
And certainly not to make another coworker look bad!
When competition becomes unhealthy, teamwork suffers.
When teamwork suffers, communication breaks down.
And when communication breaks down in a healthcare environment, patient care can be affected.
And THAT, Blog Family, is where I have a serious problem!
Because the patients should never become caught in the middle of workplace disagreements, jealousy, or unnecessary competition.
If one person is working diligently and another person is struggling, why not help?
If someone has mastered a skill, why not learn from them?
If somebody is doing their assignment well, why not encourage them?
WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BECOME A COMPETITION?!?
And here’s another thing!
Those who are putting in the time and effort should not constantly have to compensate for those who are more interested in complaining than contributing.
Come on now!
WE HAVE GOT TO DO BETTER!
When you do your part and allow others to do theirs, the work gets done.
And everybody benefits!
❤️ One Body, Many Members!
Now, let’s get back to the Word of God!
Because this is where the entire message comes together.
📖 1 Corinthians 12:18 (KJV)
“But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.”
DID YOU CATCH THAT?!?
AS IT HATH PLEASED HIM!
Not as it pleased you!
Not as it pleased your neighbor!
Not as it pleased the person sitting on the front row!
BUT AS IT PLEASED GOD!
God has arranged the members of the Body according to His purpose.
And the beautiful thing about the Body of Christ is that every member has a role.
Think about your natural body for a moment.
Your eyes have a job.
Your ears have a job.
Your hands have a job.
Your feet have a job.
Now, imagine your feet waking up one morning and saying:
“I’M TIRED OF WALKING! I WANT TO BE THE EYES!” 🤣
WHAT?!?
Or your hands deciding:
“I DON’T WANT TO PICK UP ANYTHING ELSE! I WANT TO BE THE EARS!”
OH, LORD! 😂
Can you imagine the confusion?
Your body would be in complete disorder!
WHY?
Because every member was designed to fulfill a particular function.
And when each member does its part, the entire body works together.
The same principle applies to the Church, the workplace, and even our homes.
DIFFERENT RESPONSIBILITIES!
DIFFERENT ABILITIES!
DIFFERENT ASSIGNMENTS!
BUT ONE COMMON PURPOSE!
And in the Kingdom of God, there should be no attitude of the BIG I’s and the little YOU’s!
We are all valuable before God.
Different roles do not mean different levels of worth.
The person standing behind the pulpit is not more valuable to God than the person faithfully serving behind the scenes.
The person on the front row is not automatically more important than the person on the back row.
And the person whose name everybody knows is not necessarily more faithful than the person whose name nobody recognizes.
GOD SEES THEM ALL!
So stop fighting for somebody else’s position and start being faithful in the one you’ve been given!
😮 Cain and Abel — When Envy Takes Over!
Now, Blog Family!
Before I close, let’s look at what happened between two brothers.
CAIN AND ABEL!
Oh, yes!
Because jealousy didn’t just show up yesterday!
It’s been around for a very long time!
The Bible tells us in Genesis chapter 4 that Cain and Abel both brought offerings to the Lord.
But God regarded Abel and his offering, while He did not regard Cain and his offering.
And Cain became very angry.
Now, pay attention!
Instead of Cain examining himself and responding to God’s correction, he allowed his anger to grow.
And look at what God told him.
📖 Genesis 4:7 (KJV)
“If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”
OH, MY GOODNESS!
IF THOU DOEST WELL, SHALT THOU NOT BE ACCEPTED?!?
In other words, Cain had an opportunity to do what was right!
God was addressing Cain’s own actions and warning him about the sin waiting to overtake him.
But what did Cain do?
Instead of mastering his anger, he allowed it to master him.
And tragically, Cain killed his brother Abel.
Think about that!
ABEL WAS NOT THE PROBLEM!
Cain’s response to God’s correction was the problem!
Abel’s acceptance did not mean Cain had no opportunity to do what was right.
But Cain allowed resentment to become something far more destructive.
And that is exactly why we must be careful when jealousy begins taking root in our hearts.
Because jealousy left unchecked can become bitterness.
Bitterness can become resentment.
Resentment can become hostility.
And hostility can lead us to actions we never should have taken.
All because we were too busy looking at somebody else’s blessing instead of examining our own hearts!
DON’T LET SOMEBODY ELSE’S ACCEPTANCE BECOME THE REASON YOU REFUSE TO DO WELL!
God was not asking Cain to become Abel.
He was calling Cain to do what was right!
And Blog Family, that message still speaks to us today.
🌟 Your Assignment Matters!
Let me encourage somebody today!
You don’t have to be somebody else!
You don’t have to carry somebody else’s assignment!
You don’t have to fight for somebody else’s position!
And you certainly don’t have to become jealous because God is using somebody else in a way that He may not be using you.
DO WHAT GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO!
If you believe you’re not where you’re supposed to be, then pray!
Seek the face of God!
Ask Him for wisdom, direction, and clarity concerning your assignment.
But don’t allow your uncertainty about your own calling to become an excuse to interfere with somebody else’s.
And please understand something!
Staying in your lane does not mean you cannot grow, pursue new opportunities, or develop additional gifts.
It means you don’t have to destroy somebody else’s lane to move forward in yours!
There is room for growth!
There is room for encouragement!
There is room for teamwork!
And there is room for everybody to faithfully fulfill their God-given purpose!
Remember the words Jesus spoke in the parable of the talents:
📖 Matthew 25:21 (KJV)
“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Notice!
The commendation was for FAITHFULNESS!
Not popularity!
Not competition!
Not being noticed!
But faithfulness!
And that’s what I want!
When my assignment on this earth is complete, I want to hear those precious words:
“WELL DONE, THOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!” ❤️
💡 Today’s Aha Moment!
YOU HAVE YOUR PART, AND THEY HAVE THEIRS!
Here’s what I want you to remember today.
When Grandma assigned those Saturday morning chores, she wasn’t asking us to compete with one another.
She wasn’t asking us to argue over who had the most important job.
And she certainly wasn’t asking us to spend the entire morning watching somebody else work!
SHE WANTED THOSE CHORES DONE! 🤣
And guess what?
When everybody completed their assignment, the house was clean, Grandma was satisfied, and we were all free to go outside and play!
EVERYBODY BENEFITED WHEN EVERYBODY DID THEIR PART!
Now, isn’t that something?!?
What Grandma taught us in that little house many years ago is a lesson that still applies today.
In the home!
On the job!
In the Church!
And throughout the Body of Christ!
We are not all called to do the same thing, but we are called to work together.
YOUR PART MATTERS!
THEIR PART MATTERS!
AND THE ENTIRE BODY BENEFITS WHEN WE WORK IN UNITY!
So before you criticize somebody else’s assignment, ask yourself:
Am I faithfully completing mine?
Before you become jealous of somebody else’s success, ask yourself:
Am I developing what God has already placed in my hands?
And before you fight for somebody else’s position, ask yourself:
Have I even finished the work God has given me to do?
Because sometimes the greatest obstacle standing between you and your purpose isn’t another person.
IT’S YOUR OWN DISTRACTION WITH WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE IS DOING!
OH, THAT’S AN AHA MOMENT RIGHT THERE! ❤️
So, Blog Friends and Family!
Let’s stop competing!
Let’s stop comparing!
Let’s stop tearing one another down!
And let’s start encouraging, supporting, and strengthening one another.
Because at the end of the day…
YOU HAVE YOUR PART!
THEY HAVE THEIRS!
AND WE ARE ALL ONE BODY! ❤️
Now, somebody please tell Grandma we’ve finally finished those Saturday morning chores!
BECAUSE I’M READY TO GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY! 🤣🤣🤣
Until next time, Blog Friends and Family!
Stay encouraged, stay faithful, and most importantly…
STAY FOCUSED ON YOUR GOD-GIVEN ASSIGNMENT! ❤️
