That’s Goofy! 🤪😂 Grow Up! ⬆️
It’s Time to Put Away Childish Things!

Hey, Blog Friends and Family! ❤️
Y’all already know we’re about to have some fun today! 😂
Now, let me ask you something!
WHY IN THE WORLD DID DISNEY NAME THAT POOR CHARACTER GOOFY?! 🤣
I mean, seriously!
Out of all the names they could have chosen, somebody said, “Let’s call him GOOFY!”
REALLY?! 😂😂
But hold on!
Before we start laughing too hard, I have another question.
Have you ever met a grown person who still behaves like a child?
OOPS! DID I JUST GO THERE?! 😂
Well, stay with me, because today we’re talking about something much deeper than a cartoon character.
We’re talking about SPIRITUAL MATURITY!
Because there comes a time in our Christian walk when God expects us to grow beyond the things we should have outgrown.
And believe me, age doesn’t always determine maturity!
Some people have grown older physically but haven’t necessarily grown spiritually.
Now, THAT’S GOOFY! 🤪
🤪 Wait! Who Said Goofy?!
As I was sitting, I heard someone say the word “goofy,” and immediately my blogging antenna ascended into the third heavens! ⬆️🤣
Y’all know me by now!
I’m always listening for a catchy blog title!
I love challenging myself to think outside the box, finding humor in everyday conversations, and turning those little moments into something meaningful.
And yes, I even have ChatGPT help me create some of the funniest blog illustrations to represent my stories!
Not to mention helping me clean up those run-on sentences!
Because, honey, I don’t want to put out trash writing! ✍️😂
I want my readers to laugh, think, and hopefully walk away with something that encourages them to become better.
But today, that one little word got me thinking.
GOOFY!
What does it really mean?
And how in the world can I connect a Disney cartoon character to spiritual maturity?
Well, y’all, we’re about to find out!
😂 Goofy Wasn’t Stupid — He Was Just Goofy!
Now, understand me, please!
I’m not calling anyone Goofy!
But sometimes our level of maturity doesn’t reflect the righteousness and character of Christ.
And that’s where this blog is headed.
Disney’s Goofy was a lovable cartoon character whose personality was known for:
Clumsy movements and funny mistakes.
An innocent, good-hearted personality.
An unusual laugh and famous holler.
Turning ordinary situations into hilarious adventures.
I remember watching Goofy as a child!
Y’all, that character would have me laughing at the way he walked, the way he laughed, and all those crazy adventures he managed to get himself into! 🤣
But here’s what I want you to understand.
Goofy’s silliness didn’t necessarily represent stupidity or a lack of intelligence.
It was simply the personality of the character!
His funny ways were part of how he entertained people.
And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!
God created us with different personalities, different abilities, different gifts, and even different senses of humor.
Some of us are naturally funny!
Some of us are naturally quiet!
Some of us are creative thinkers, while others are gifted with their hands.
And that’s a beautiful thing!
But here’s where things begin to change.
When we use our God-given abilities to intentionally hurt, belittle, manipulate, or mistreat others, that’s no longer harmless humor or personality.
That’s immaturity!
And I’m going to say it again!
THAT’S GOOFY! 🤪
⬆️ Now, What Is Our Excuse?!
Let’s talk about it!
Some people are naturally funny and can make an entire room burst into laughter!
But what happens when that humor comes at the expense of hurting someone else?
THAT’S GOOFY!
Some people are incredibly creative with their hands and have the ability to build successful businesses and make lots of money.
But what happens when that success becomes an excuse to take advantage of someone else?
THAT’S GOOFY!
Some people are masterminds at what they do!
They have exceptional knowledge, extraordinary skills, and the ability to perform their jobs with excellence.
But what happens when they use those abilities to bully others, embarrass their coworkers, or make someone feel less than because they don’t possess the same level of knowledge?
THAT’S REALLY GOOFY! 🤪
And let’s not forget those who believe their position, title, education, or financial success places them above everyone else.
Honey, please!
Who gave you that ability in the first place?
Who gave you the mind to think?
Who gave you the hands to create?
Who gave you the opportunity to become successful?
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above! — James 1:17 (KJV)
So why would we take something God has graciously given us and turn it into a weapon against someone else?
❤️ Your Gift Was Never Meant to Destroy Someone Else!
Let me ask you something.
Why would you take the very thing God gifted you with and use it for someone else’s demise?
Why would you use your gifts and talents to make another person feel inferior simply because you’re living at the top of the food chain?
And who told you that being at the top gave you permission to look down on everybody else?
THAT’S GOOFY! 🤪
God didn’t give us creative abilities, knowledge, wisdom, or talents so we could make other people feel less than because they don’t carry the same genetic makeup, abilities, or gifts that we possess.
He created us differently!
And those differences serve a purpose.
We are not all supposed to think alike, work alike, create alike, or even express ourselves alike.
Imagine how boring this world would be if everybody were exactly the same!
But more importantly, imagine how much stronger the body of Christ becomes when we learn to appreciate and encourage the gifts God has placed in one another.
Ephesians 4:15–16 (KJV) teaches us to grow up into Christ and describes how the body, joined together, builds itself up in love.
Did you catch that?
IN LOVE! ❤️
Not jealousy!
Not pride!
Not intimidation!
Not bullying!
Not making someone else feel insignificant!
But LOVE!
Our gifts should contribute to the strengthening and building up of others, not their destruction.
And to think otherwise?
Y’all already know what I’m about to say!
THAT’S GOOFY! 🤣
📖 It’s Time to Put Away Childish Things!
Now, let’s get back to our foundational scripture.
1 Corinthians 13:11 (KJV)
“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
Notice something interesting about this scripture.
Paul didn’t say that when he became a man, somebody else had to put away his childish things for him.
He said:
“I PUT AWAY CHILDISH THINGS!”
Now, that’s worth thinking about!
There comes a time when we must take responsibility for our attitudes, actions, words, and how we treat other people.
We cannot keep blaming everyone else for behavior we refuse to correct.
We cannot continue excusing pride, arrogance, jealousy, selfishness, and unkindness while claiming to be spiritually mature.
And we certainly cannot use the phrase “That’s just how I am!” as an excuse to mistreat others.
Because spiritual maturity should produce evidence of Christ working in our lives.
And here’s something else!
You can be extremely gifted and still need to grow spiritually.
You can possess tremendous knowledge and still lack compassion.
You can be successful in your profession and still need to learn humility.
You can even know the Scriptures and still struggle to apply them in your everyday relationships.
Remember, 1 Corinthians 13 teaches us that even extraordinary gifts and knowledge amount to nothing without love.
Maturity isn’t just about what you know. It’s also revealed in how you love, respond, and treat others.
And that’s something every one of us, including me, must continue growing in!
❤️ Lauretta’s Aha Moment!
Well, Blog Friends and Family!
Who would have thought that one little word — GOOFY — could turn into a lesson about spiritual maturity?!
But here we are! 😂
Let me leave you with this thought.
There’s nothing wrong with being a little goofy, enjoying laughter, or having a fun-loving personality!
God never asked us to lose our joy in order to become spiritually mature.
But He does call us to grow in wisdom, humility, love, and understanding.
Don’t confuse being gifted with being mature.
Don’t confuse having authority with having character.
And don’t confuse being successful with being spiritually grown.
Because the real evidence of maturity isn’t how high you’ve climbed.
It’s how you treat people while you’re climbing!
And here’s the Aha Moment I really want you to take away today:
If your gift makes room for you, but your attitude makes others feel small, perhaps it’s not your gift that needs to grow — it’s your character!
WHEW! DID I JUST SAY THAT?! 😂❤️
So keep laughing!
Keep creating!
Keep enjoying life!
But most importantly…
KEEP GROWING IN CHRIST! ⬆️
Because some things were meant to be enjoyed in childhood, and some behaviors were meant to be left behind.
And if we’re still using our God-given gifts to tear other people down instead of building them up…
Well, y’all!
THAT’S GOOFY! 🤪😂
Until next time, Blog Friends and Family!
Keep growing, keep loving, and keep allowing Christ to mature you from the inside out! ❤️
