Patience Is a Virtue

Patience Is a Virtue

Hey blog reader — gather in. I’ve got another heart-stirring topic to share with you, and honestly, I didn’t even know what this next blog was going to be about… until God dropped it on me right in the middle of my workday.

Yes — while I was preparing to draw blood from a patient.

I want to walk you through what happened.

As I got ready to collect my patient’s labs, I noticed immediately: he was a hard stick. Now, that’s nothing unusual in the world of phlebotomy — we see challenging veins every day. And even though I call myself a sharp shooter, there are still moments that require more skill, more focus, and more patience.

But here’s the thing: challenging moments are teachable moments.

I always tell my patients, “If everything in life came easy, we wouldn’t grow.”

Difficulty pushes us.

Pressure develops us.

Challenges stretch us beyond the familiar.

Because when life is always easy, it becomes stagnant — stale — like water that never flows.

So I gently told my patient, “Have a little patience with me. Your veins are a bit difficult today, but I’ll get it.” I started patting the area, firm enough to stimulate the vein but gentle enough not to hurt him. And as I kept tapping, something came out of my mouth that hit me just as hard as it hit him:

“Sometimes veins like this require patience.”

And right there — God dropped the revelation:

Patience is a virtue.

As I continued tapping, the vein finally rose to the surface — clear, strong, and ready. I smiled and told him, “We’re good to go now.” And with one smooth stick, the blood flowed beautifully through the butterfly needle.

His face said it all.

He appreciated that I didn’t rush.

I didn’t jab.

I didn’t force the process.

I took my time — and because of that, the draw was a success.

And that’s when it hit me:

When we slow down, honor the process, and give patience room to work, success will always follow.

Patience really is a virtue — in phlebotomy, in life, and in every season where God is teaching us to trust His timing over our impatience.

When God Uses Pressure to Produce Patience

Patience is more than a quiet attitude — it’s a spiritual discipline. And sometimes, God will use ordinary moments, uncomfortable situations, and unexpected delays to teach us what we could not learn any other way.

Just like that patient with the difficult vein, life will present us with circumstances that don’t “pop up” right away:

• A promise that takes longer than you expected

• A door that won’t open as quickly as you hoped

• A breakthrough that hasn’t shown up yet

• A relationship, job, or opportunity that requires endurance

• A season that feels slow, uncertain, or stretched thin

We want easy, but God wants lasting.

We want quick, but God wants quality.

We want “right now,” but God is shaping us for what’s ahead.

And here’s the truth:

1️⃣ Patience Develops What Comfort Cannot

Comfort teaches you nothing.

Struggle teaches you everything.

It’s the tapping… the waiting… the adjusting… the trying again… that builds spiritual muscle.

You don’t grow when it’s easy.

You grow when it’s necessary.

2️⃣ Patience Protects You From Painful Mistakes

If I had rushed and jabbed that needle, I could’ve caused pain, bruising, or even missed the vein entirely.

Impatience always makes you strike too fast.

Patience teaches you to move with care, wisdom, and precision.

Some of the worst decisions come from rushing:

• Rushed relationships

• Rushed jobs

• Rushed moves

• Rushed choices we didn’t pray about

Patience keeps you aligned with God instead of reacting from fear or frustration.

3️⃣ Patience Allows What’s Hidden to Rise

Just like that vein rose to the surface with gentle tapping, there are blessings, answers, ideas, and miracles in your life that are trying to rise to the surface — but they need time.

Pressure reveals purpose.

Waiting reveals wisdom.

Patience reveals God.

What you can’t see yet doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

It simply hasn’t risen.

4️⃣ Patience Strengthens Your Character

The Bible says, “Let patience have her perfect work.”

That means patience is doing something in you — chiseling your faith, polishing your mindset, maturing your emotions, and stabilizing your spirit.

Every waiting season is a working season.

God is working on your blessing — and working on you.

5️⃣ Patience Makes the Outcome Worth the Wait

When the vein finally appeared, the blood flowed beautifully — smooth, steady, successful.

That’s exactly what patience does in life:

• It makes the miracle sweeter

• It makes the breakthrough stable

• It makes the promise powerful

• It makes the testimony worth talking about

Everything God makes you wait for is always worth the wait.

Revelation Points

What God Revealed About Patience in That Moment

As I tapped that vein, waiting for it to rise, the Holy Spirit started speaking — loud and clear. Here are the revelations God dropped in my spirit, and I believe they will bless you too:

1️⃣ Some Blessings Only Show Up Under Gentle Pressure

The vein didn’t appear until it was tapped.

Not beaten.

Not forced.

Not stabbed.

Just consistent, gentle pressure.

Revelation:

God isn’t trying to break you — He’s trying to bring something out of you.

Your patience is making hidden blessings rise to the surface.

2️⃣ Delayed Doesn’t Mean Denied — It Means Developing

If that vein had popped up instantly, there would’ve been no lesson.

No revelation.

No growth.

Revelation:

The delay you’re facing is part of your development.

God is maturing you so you can handle the fullness of what you prayed for.

Your “not yet” is not a “no.”

It’s a “grow.”

3️⃣ What You’re Waiting On Is Already There — It Just Needs Time to Surface

The vein didn’t appear because it arrived.

It was always there — hidden beneath the surface.

Revelation:

Your promise is not lost.

Your breakthrough is not missing.

Your answer is not gone.

It’s already there — but patience is what brings it into visibility.

4️⃣ When You Move Slowly, You Move Safely

If I had rushed, I could have hurt the patient.

Bruised him.

Damaged the vein.

Missed the mark.

Revelation:

Rushing always comes with consequences.

Patience protects you from unnecessary pain — emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Some disappointments you faced in the past weren’t failures…

they were rushed decisions.

5️⃣ God Honors Those Who Wait With Faith, Not Frustration

The moment I said, “Give me a little patience,” the vein responded.

Revelation:

Creation responds to faith-filled patience.

Heaven moves when you wait without complaining.

God honors the person who says:

“Lord, I trust Your timing — even when I don’t understand it.”

Your patience is activating miracles behind the scenes.

6️⃣ The Flow Is Always Smoother When You Don’t Force It

When the vein showed up, the blood flowed beautifully — no resistance, no struggle.

Revelation:

Anything forced will frustrate you.

Anything birthed in God’s timing will flow with ease.

You don’t have to force open what God already scheduled for you.

7️⃣ Patience Turns Pressure Into Purpose

That whole moment wasn’t just about drawing blood — it was a divine setup.

Revelation:

God uses everyday situations to reveal spiritual truths.

Your discomfort is teaching you something.

Your waiting is shaping you.

Your patience is preparing you.

Nothing you experience is wasted.

Powerful Conclusion

Patience isn’t just a virtue—

it is a weapon.

A stabilizer.

A spiritual key that unlocks doors timing alone cannot open.

From that simple moment in a phlebotomy chair, God reminded me—and now reminds you—that impatience will always cost you something, but patience will never return void.

Every season that requires waiting is really a season of working:

• God is working in you.

• God is working for you.

• God is working behind the scenes.

• God is working beneath the surface.

Just like that hidden vein, your blessing is already there—waiting for the right moment to rise. And the moment you stop rushing, forcing, panicking, and pushing ahead of God, something shifts:

✨ The unexpected becomes visible.

✨ The invisible becomes reachable.

✨ The hard thing becomes possible.

✨ The delayed thing becomes released.

Patience is the quiet, steady trust that says:

“Lord, I don’t just want the blessing.

I want the version of me that will keep it.”

So today, let patience do her work.

Let patience shape you, mature you, strengthen you, and steady you.

Let patience bring your promise to the surface.

And above all, let patience align you with God’s perfect timing—because His timing has never failed and it never will.

When you refuse to rush the process, God will make the process work for you.

And when you wait on God, you never wait in vain.

Patience truly is a virtue—one that leads straight to victory.

Powerful Closing Prayer

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus,

we pause to thank You for the divine reminder

that patience is not weakness —

it is spiritual strength wrapped in surrender.

Lord, we confess that sometimes we rush ahead of You.

Sometimes we grow frustrated with the process,

discouraged by delays,

or weary from waiting.

But today, we choose to release that weight.

Give us the grace to wait well.

Teach us how to rest in Your timing

and trust Your hands when we cannot trace Your plan.

Help us to remember that every “not yet”

is a setup for something greater, deeper, and better

than what we imagined.

Father, shape our character while we wait.

Calm our spirit when impatience rises.

Silence every voice of fear, doubt, and frustration.

Strengthen our faith so that we do not faint before the promise comes.

Let Your peace stretch over every anxious place inside of us.

Lord, make us people who wait with expectancy,

not irritation —

people who wait with worship,

not worry —

people who understand that what You are preparing

is worth every second of the process.

And when the blessing appears,

just like that hidden vein,

let it flow smoothly, beautifully, and abundantly.

Let the outcome of our patience testify

that Your timing is perfect

and Your faithfulness never fails.

We surrender the process,

we surrender our timeline,

and we surrender our will —

trusting that You make all things beautiful in Your time.

In Jesus’ powerful name we pray,

Amen.
