Yes — while I was preparing to draw blood from a patient.

I want to walk you through what happened.

As I got ready to collect my patient’s labs, I noticed immediately: he was a hard stick. Now, that’s nothing unusual in the world of phlebotomy — we see challenging veins every day. And even though I call myself a sharp shooter, there are still moments that require more skill, more focus, and more patience.

But here’s the thing: challenging moments are teachable moments.

I always tell my patients, “If everything in life came easy, we wouldn’t grow.”

Difficulty pushes us.

Pressure develops us.

Challenges stretch us beyond the familiar.

Because when life is always easy, it becomes stagnant — stale — like water that never flows.

So I gently told my patient, “Have a little patience with me. Your veins are a bit difficult today, but I’ll get it.” I started patting the area, firm enough to stimulate the vein but gentle enough not to hurt him. And as I kept tapping, something came out of my mouth that hit me just as hard as it hit him:

“Sometimes veins like this require patience.”

And right there — God dropped the revelation:

Patience is a virtue.

As I continued tapping, the vein finally rose to the surface — clear, strong, and ready. I smiled and told him, “We’re good to go now.” And with one smooth stick, the blood flowed beautifully through the butterfly needle.

His face said it all.

He appreciated that I didn’t rush.

I didn’t jab.

I didn’t force the process.

I took my time — and because of that, the draw was a success.

And that’s when it hit me:

When we slow down, honor the process, and give patience room to work, success will always follow.

If I had rushed and jabbed that needle, I could’ve caused pain, bruising, or even missed the vein entirely.

Impatience always makes you strike too fast.

Patience teaches you to move with care, wisdom, and precision.

Some of the worst decisions come from rushing:

• Rushed relationships

• Rushed jobs

• Rushed moves

• Rushed choices we didn’t pray about

Patience keeps you aligned with God instead of reacting from fear or frustration.

Just like that vein rose to the surface with gentle tapping, there are blessings, answers, ideas, and miracles in your life that are trying to rise to the surface — but they need time.

Pressure reveals purpose.

What you can’t see yet doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

It simply hasn’t risen.

The Bible says, “Let patience have her perfect work.”

That means patience is doing something in you — chiseling your faith, polishing your mindset, maturing your emotions, and stabilizing your spirit.

people who understand that what You are preparing

And when the blessing appears,

just like that hidden vein,

let it flow smoothly, beautifully, and abundantly.

Let the outcome of our patience testify

that Your timing is perfect

and Your faithfulness never fails.

We surrender the process,

we surrender our timeline,

and we surrender our will —
