Hey, Blog Friends and Family! ā¤ļø
HONK! HONK! HONK! šŖ暤£
GOOD GRACIOUS ALIVE!
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL THAT GOOSE TO BE QUIET?! šš
Yāall already know weāre about to have some fun today!
But first, let me ask you something.
HAVE YOU EVER MET SOMEBODY WHO JUST TALKS TOO MUCH?!
I mean, they talk when theyāre happy!
They talk when theyāre sad!
They talk when theyāre nervous!
And GOODNESS GRACIOUS, they even talk when nobody is listening! š¤£
You canāt get a word in edgewise!
Every time you think theyāre finished, here comes another sentence!
And another!
AND ANOTHER! š
Youāre standing there smiling, nodding your head, thinking to yourselfā¦
LORD, IS THERE AN EXIT SIGN SOMEWHERE?!Ā šŖšāāļøš¤£
Because this conversation has been going on so long, youāve forgotten what you were talking about in the first place!
šŖæ Loosey Goosey! Say No More!
Now, I know what youāre thinking.
Lauretta, what in the world does a goose have to do with somebody talking too much?
Well, Iām glad you asked!
Have you ever heard a goose honking?
HONK! HONK! HONK!
And sometimes it seems like that goose just wonāt stop!
Well, thatās how some of our conversations sound!
A whole lot of HONKING but very little LISTENING! š
And hereās where things get interesting.
Sometimes we talk so much that we end up telling people things they never needed to know!
We start out telling a simple story, and before you know it, weāve shared the entire family history, three generations of business, and somebodyās secret recipe!
GOODNESS GRACIOUS!

𤫠The Wisdom of Knowing When to Be Quiet
Now, Blog Friends and Family, letās get serious for just a moment.
The Bible has something powerful to say about our words.
James 1:19 (KJV)
āWherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:ā
Did you catch that?
SWIFT TO HEAR!
SLOW TO SPEAK!
Notice the Scripture doesnāt say be swift to speak and slow to hear!
But isnāt that exactly what we sometimes do?
Weāre so busy preparing our next response that we havenāt even heard what the other person is saying!
Sometimes weāre not having a conversation.
Weāre having a competition to see who can talk the longest! š
š When Your Mouth Gets Ahead of Your Mind!
Have you ever said something and immediately wished you could reach into the air, grab those words, and stuff them right back into your mouth?
TOO LATE! š¤£
THEYāRE ALREADY OUT THERE!
And the person standing in front of you heard every single word!
Now youāre trying to explain what you really meant.
But every explanation seems to make things worse!
Lord, have mercy!
Thatās when you should have saidā¦
LOOSEY GOOSEY! SAY NO MORE!Ā šŖæ
Because sometimes the wisest response is no response at all.
ā¤ļø Everybody Doesnāt Need to Know Everything!
Hereās another important lesson.
Just because you know something doesnāt mean you need to share it.
Every thought doesnāt require an announcement.
Every disagreement doesnāt require an argument.
And every question doesnāt require a ten-minute explanation!
Sometimes a simple YES or NO will do!
But NOOOOO!
We have to give the introduction, the background, the supporting evidence, and the closing argument! š
By the time weāre finished, the other person probably wishes they hadnāt asked!
Proverbs 17:28 (KJV)
āEven a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.ā
WOW!
Now thatās something worth thinking about!
š” Todayās Aha Moment!
Just because you have something to say doesnāt mean itās something that needs to be said!
There is wisdom in speaking.
But there is also tremendous wisdom in knowing when to remain silent.
God gave us two ears and one mouth, and perhaps thatās a wonderful reminder that listening deserves just as much attention as speaking.
Not every conversation needs our opinion.
Not every situation needs our explanation.
And not every silence needs to be filled.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is absolutely nothing!
So, the next time you feel yourself getting ready to tell somebody everything you know, ask yourself:
Is what Iām about to say necessary, helpful, and wise?
And if the answer is NOā¦
HONK! HONK! šŖ暤£
LOOSEY GOOSEY!
SAY NO MORE!Ā š¤«š
Until next time, Blog Friends and Family, keep laughing, keep learning, and remember that sometimes a closed mouth speaks louder than a thousand words!
