…Because It’s Necessary

Isaiah 55:8–9 (KJV)

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

“Some things don’t make sense while you’re going through them. But what feels like a setback today may actually be God’s way of protecting, preparing, positioning, or preserving you for tomorrow. Because it was necessary… it had to happen.”

Have you ever experienced something that required immediate action because it was necessary?

Maybe you didn’t understand it.

Maybe you didn’t agree with it.

Maybe you would have handled it differently.

But the situation was completely out of your control, and someone else had to step in and make the decision.

Why?

Because it was necessary.

The truth is, we don’t always see what God sees. We don’t know every motive, every conversation, every danger, or every assignment unfolding behind closed doors. Some things are intentionally hidden from us—not because God is trying to keep us in the dark, but because He is protecting us until the proper time.

There are seasons when God simply says,

“Trust Me.”

We won’t have every answer to the questions racing through our minds.

Why did this happen?

Why wasn’t I chosen?

Why was that door closed?

Why did they leave?

Why the delay?

Instead of explaining every detail, God often calls us to pray.

Why?

Because it is necessary.

Prayer keeps our hearts connected to the One who already knows the outcome while we’re still trying to understand the beginning.

Sometimes the greatest act of faith is believing that God is working even when you cannot see Him working.

Because it was necessary…

• A detour was necessary because it kept you from danger.

• A closed door was necessary because the opportunity wasn’t meant for you.

• Waiting was necessary because you weren’t ready for what was ahead.

• A delay was necessary because God was aligning the right timing.

• Pruning was necessary so healthier growth could come.

• Discipline was necessary to develop wisdom and character.

• A difficult conversation was necessary to bring healing and truth.

• Losing something was necessary to make room for something better.

• Failure was necessary because it taught lessons success never could.

• Being told “No” was necessary because “Yes” would have harmed you.

• Separation was necessary to protect your peace.

• A storm was necessary to strengthen your faith.

• Silence was necessary so you could hear God’s voice more clearly.

• Boundaries were necessary to protect your purpose.

• Forgiveness was necessary to free your own heart.

• Correction was necessary to keep you from destruction.

• A season of loneliness was necessary to deepen your relationship with God.

• An unexpected ending was necessary because a new beginning was waiting.

• The stretching was necessary because your next assignment required greater capacity.

• The pain was necessary because it produced compassion, endurance, and spiritual maturity.

To be perfectly honest, I would love for everything to work in my favor because it’s convenient, easy, predictable, and something I already know how to handle.

But where is the growth in that?

If everything were simple enough for us to fix ourselves, how often would we truly seek God?

Sometimes God allows situations that exceed our own strength so we’ll discover the greatness of His.

He isn’t trying to make life difficult.

He’s teaching us dependence.

He’s developing trust.

He’s strengthening our faith.

And perhaps that’s true not only in our personal lives, but in the world around us as well.

I can’t help but think about the times we’re living in.

There are many things happening in our nation and around the world that we simply do not understand. Decisions are being made behind closed doors that most of us know very little about. Because we don’t have all the information, it’s easy to form opinions based only on headlines, social media, or television.

But as believers, we are called to respond differently.

Instead of reacting out of fear, we should seek God’s wisdom.

Instead of assuming we know everything, we should humble ourselves before His Word.

Instead of allowing uncertainty to produce anxiety, we should allow it to produce prayer.

So the question becomes:

What does God’s Word say?

Jesus told us to watch and discern the times—not through fear, speculation, or political allegiance—but through the lens of Scripture.

Could some of the events we are witnessing today be moving history toward the fulfillment of biblical prophecy?

It’s certainly worth studying God’s Word with humility and discernment rather than rushing to conclusions.

• Zechariah — Jerusalem in the last days, Christ’s return, and His reign (Chapters 12–14).

• Joel — The Day of the Lord, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and judgment of the nations (Chapters 2–3).

• Malachi — The coming Day of the Lord and Elijah’s ministry before it (Chapter 4).

• Zephaniah — Judgment, restoration, and the Day of the Lord.

• Obadiah — Judgment and the coming Kingdom of God.

As we study, let’s remember that our confidence isn’t ultimately in governments, political leaders, world events, or even our own understanding.

Our confidence is in God.

Kingdoms will rise.

Kingdoms will fall.

Cultures will change.

Generations will come and go.

But God’s Word remains forever.

That is why our greatest response is not panic.

It is not fear.

It is not endless debate.

It’s prayer.

As God reminds us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV):

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Perhaps now more than ever…

Prayer isn’t optional. It’s necessary

Aha Moment

As difficult as it may be to accept, not everything that happens in our lives is meant to be understood immediately. Some things are meant to protect us, redirect us, prepare us, position us, or preserve us for what God has already planned.

There were prayers God answered with “no” because it was necessary.

There were doors He closed because it was necessary.

There were relationships He allowed to end because it was necessary.

There were delays that tested your patience because they were necessary.

There were battles you didn’t choose because they were necessary.

One day you’ll look back and realize that what you once questioned was actually God’s mercy at work all along.

Trust His heart even when you cannot trace His hand.

Remember, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways. If God allowed it, He also has a purpose for it.

Because it was necessary… it had to happen.

As I reflect on all of this, I can’t help but think about God’s invitation in 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Notice that before God promised healing, He first called His people to humility, repentance, prayer, and seeking His face.

Those weren’t suggestions.

They were necessary.

Sometimes we spend so much time asking God to change our circumstances that we forget He first wants to change us.

Repentance is necessary.

Humility is necessary.

Prayer is necessary.

Trust is necessary.

Seeking God’s face is necessary.

Could it be that some of the difficult seasons we’ve experienced weren’t designed to destroy us, but to draw us closer to the One who holds our future?

Perhaps God isn’t withholding answers.

Perhaps He’s inviting us into deeper faith.

One day we’ll look back and realize that every closed door, every delay, every disappointment, every correction, every unanswered question, and every difficult season served a purpose greater than we could see at the time.

God wasn’t punishing us.

He was preparing us.

He wasn’t abandoning us.

He was positioning us.

He wasn’t ignoring our prayers.

He was answering them according to His perfect wisdom and timing.

Because His thoughts are higher than ours.

His ways are higher than ours.

And if He allowed it…

It was necessary.

One day you’ll discover that the very thing you questioned was the very thing God used to protect you.

The prayer He answered with “no”…

The door He refused to open…

The relationship He allowed to end…

The waiting season that stretched your faith…

The battle you never wanted to fight…

None of it was wasted.

God was protecting you, preparing you, positioning you, preserving you, and drawing you closer to Himself.

Because it was necessary.
