Standing in the Gap Begins With You

“Moses besought the Lord his God…” and asked Him to turn from His fierce wrath, and God relented from destroying Israel.

Hey Family!

Well, I have something big that is about to transpire in just a few days that I believe will bring about much-needed change in my department at work.

Personally, it has been a long time coming—and rightly so.

But this isn’t just about me.

It’s about everyone who has had to function in an atmosphere where peace has been challenged, morale has been affected, and unnecessary conflict has become the norm.

As I’ve been praying, God began asking me a question…

“If not you… then who?”

That question stopped me in my tracks.

Who will be willing to stand when everyone else wants to sit down?

Who will be willing to speak truth when everyone else remains silent?

Who will be willing to pray instead of complain?

Who?

Could God be calling you to bring the very change you’ve been praying for?

Maybe it’s in your church.

Maybe it’s in your home.

Maybe it’s in your community.

Maybe it’s in your business.

Maybe it’s in your city.

Maybe it’s in your nation.

Or maybe… just maybe…

It’s in your workplace.

Sometimes we spend so much time asking God to remove us from difficult places that we never consider He may have placed us there for a purpose.

Perhaps God positioned you there because He knew you would pray when others wouldn’t.

Perhaps He knew you would forgive when others chose bitterness.

Perhaps He knew you would stand when everyone else walked away.

Maybe that’s exactly why God placed me where I am.

Not simply to endure the battle…

But to help bring change.

Because the enemy has a way of slipping into places where he was never invited.

His assignment is always the same.

To overthrow peace.

To overthrow hope.

To overthrow love.

To overthrow integrity.

To overthrow unity.

To replace order with confusion…

and peace with chaos.

After all…

That’s exactly how the devil operates.

Jesus said in John 10:10 that the thief comes only “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”

He doesn’t ask permission.

He simply looks for an open door.

But today…

We’re closing those doors.

Enough is enough.

I have lived beneath God’s standard of peace long enough.

Now God is raising up people who are willing to stand against the attacks of the enemy—not with bitterness, but with prayer.

Not with revenge, but with righteousness.

Not with hatred, but with holiness.

So I ask again…

Who’s with me?

Who is willing to stand against the wiles of the devil?

Who is willing to say,

“No more!”

Yes…

You’ll get hit.

Your character may be questioned.

Your name may be slandered.

People may misunderstand your motives.

But don’t forget…

Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

And…

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment shall be condemned. (Isaiah 54:17)

Notice what God says.

He never said the weapon wouldn’t be formed.

He simply promised it wouldn’t prosper.

Yes…

Weapons will come.

Weapons designed to attack your character.

Weapons designed to discourage you.

Weapons designed to move you out of your God-given position.

Weapons designed to make you quit.

But God says…

“It will not prosper.”

Do I believe that?

Absolutely!

Does spiritual warfare feel good?

Absolutely not.

But front-line battles never do.

That’s where intercessors live.

That’s where history changes.

Standing in the Gap

Standing in the gap means placing yourself between God’s judgment and a broken people through prayer and intercession.

Throughout Scripture we see God searching for someone willing to stand in that place.

Moses Interceded

Exodus 32:11–14

Moses pleaded with God for Israel, and God showed mercy.

Aaron Interceded

Numbers 16:46–48 (KJV)

Aaron literally stood between the dead and the living.

He took the incense…

He ran toward the danger…

He stood in the middle…

And the plague stopped.

What a picture!

One man standing in obedience changed the outcome for an entire nation.

Sometimes God calls someone to stand in a difficult place—not because they deserve the battle, but because He wants to save lives through their obedience.

The Bible reminds us that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

God Is Still Looking

Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV)

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land…”

God wasn’t looking for perfection.

He was looking for availability.

These passages reveal different pictures of intercession.

Moses stood before God for the people.

Aaron stood between the dead and the living.

God searched for someone willing to stand in the gap.

Ultimately, every one of these points us to Jesus Christ—our perfect High Priest—who forever lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25).

What a beautiful reminder that because Jesus stood for us, we can now stand for others.

1. Be the One Who Prays Instead of Complains

It’s easy to point out what’s wrong.

It’s much harder to get on your knees and ask God to make it right.

Before criticizing your family…

your church…

your workplace…

or your nation…

Ask yourself:

“Have I prayed about it?”

Moses didn’t argue with the people.

Aaron didn’t criticize the people.

They stood before God for the people.

Sometimes the greatest change begins with one sincere prayer.

James 5:16 (KJV)

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

2. Be the One Who Chooses Mercy Over Judgment

Every one of us deserves God’s justice.

Yet every one of us lives because of His mercy.

Intercessors understand this.

Instead of wishing people would get what they deserve…

they ask God to give them another opportunity.

Mercy changes lives.

Prayer gives people another chance.

3. Be the One Who Protects Others Spiritually

Aaron stood between the dead and the living.

Today we stand between the enemy and our families through prayer.

Pray for your:

• Children

• Spouse

• Church

• Coworkers

• Community

• Nation

Someone’s breakthrough may be connected to your willingness to pray.

4. Be the One Who Builds Instead of Tears Down

Anyone can spread gossip.

Anyone can fuel division.

Anyone can criticize.

But it takes spiritual maturity to speak life.

Ask yourself…

Am I adding fuel to the fire… or bringing the water of God’s peace?

Be the person who encourages.

Be the person who forgives.

Be the person who restores.

That’s standing in the gap.

5. Be the One Who Says, “Lord, Use Me”

God wasn’t searching for someone famous.

He wasn’t searching for someone with the loudest voice.

He wasn’t searching for someone with the biggest platform.

He was searching for someone willing to say…

“Here am I, Lord. Send me.”

Imagine what would happen if every believer decided…

“I’ll be the one who prays.”

“I’ll be the one who forgives.”

“I’ll be the one who encourages.”

“I’ll be the one who loves.”

“I’ll be the one who stands in the gap.”

That’s how families change.

That’s how churches change.

That’s how workplaces change.

That’s how communities change.

That’s how nations change.

One willing heart…

One surrendered life…

One prayer…

One act of obedience…

At a time.

🌟 Aha Moment

What if the very change you’ve been praying for… is waiting on you?

What if God didn’t place you there simply to survive the battle, but to shift the atmosphere?

Think about it…

Moses stood.

Aaron stood.

Jesus stood.

Now God is asking…

Will you stand?

Don’t underestimate the power of one surrendered life. One prayer can change a family. One act of obedience can transform a workplace. One willing heart can impact an entire community.

You may never know whose life was spared, whose faith was restored, or whose hope was renewed because you chose to stand in the gap instead of walking away.

So today, don’t wait for someone else to become the answer.

Be the answer.

Be the encourager.

Be the peacemaker.

Be the intercessor.

Be the light.

Be the change.

Because when ordinary people say “Yes” to an extraordinary God, heaven moves, chains are broken, and lives are changed.

Until your next Aha Moment…

Remember, God isn’t looking for the most qualified.

He’s looking for the most willing.

So wherever He has planted you…

Stand.

Stand for truth.

Stand for righteousness.

Stand for peace.

Stand in the gap.

Because when one person says, “Yes, Lord,” heaven responds, lives are changed, and the impossible becomes possible.

Go… and be the change.
